I know my Dell is not the best looking lappy on the market, but I like it. Now I have only owned it for 24 hours and so far I'm impressed with the performance of the notebook. I will admit that my Compaq and Sony notebooks are a lot sturdier on the exterior. The plastic exterior of the Dell is my only complaint so far. The Screen is amazing and the key board feels nice. Dell should have made in a little tougher, but then it would be heavier. My Compaq is a smaller computer, but has about a pound on my i8600c.

Just my first observations of my Dell.

"Beauty is in the eyes of beholder", yes to a point. But claiming Dell to be the best looking laptop is like claiming Roseanne has just won the beauty queen contest

Edit: frankly, I've never considered Dell since I saw the ixps in person at one of the Dell booth. It doesn't matter how powerful the machine is, I just can't stomach the look of it. Just a personal opinion. Ironically, I own a Dell Dimension XPS Desktop for the past 7 yrs, and still use it as my main computer. I hope all current Dells are as long lasting

I take your point, but to me the Dells look great... Maybe I wouldn't like the car you choose to drive, but that is irrelevant if you like it.

LOL, there are men out there who see Roseanne that way... (Not me though)

The 9100 is a "Real Man's" Laptop...

That comment was from a guy at work who saw my 9100 and said, "Wow!, that's a real man's laptop."

Clearly there are some fanbois on here who would never admit that their dells look like they were bought from the toy section of wallmart. With the exception of the XPS dell laptops are the ugliest laptops on the market. I would never ever buy from dell for several reasons. They are an oversized computer companywith aspirations of monopolizing the computer market, which is bad for everyone. Just plain awful tech support. Dell doesn't give a **** about you and would never be ab le to offer the kind of customer care and "out of the way" service that a small company can provide (pctorque). And finally their commercials are TERRIBLE. "Award winning service and support" resellerratings.com says differently that is for sure "Dell uses 'fast' intel pentium 4 processors" YIPEEEE! Well my gripe is over sorry if I was an ass. And yes there are two dell laptops in my house owned by my sisters, both of them have problems with their screens, hard drivees, and one had a problem with it overheating. What was dell's solution for a computer that woudn't power on at all? A new hard drive! what a great idea. ok now i'm done

I think that the Dell's look great, with the blue too. The M60 and the rest of the Latitude series look really professional, but I still think that the 8600 and the 5100 look great too. I have the 5100 and the blue really adds to the look of the laptop. This case of it is a bit weak though, but it has never broken or shown signs of breaking, just a bit bendy.
