Sager CMOS Battery welded in!!!!

After ripping my Sager to shreads to get to the dead CMOS battery, I found it is welded to the contacts!!! I managed to free the battery from the contacts without too much damage. Now, what is the best way for a normal person to stick the new battery back to the contacts? I don't dare solder it, the battery will blow. Any ideas?

Thanks!

WOW! You sure it was welded and not somehow MELTED? That does seem odd to solder a battery...

Well, it's spot welded or spot soldered to the contacts. Anyway, it takes a special gizmo to solder like that. I returned from Google looking for more CMOS batter info and sure enough, the weld is a common thing. It would have cost 5 cents more for them to install a battery holder...

Well, there ya go! I can see why they went the solder-route! I mean, 5 cents is FIVE CENTS... I mean, multiply that nickel by the tens of thousands, and it quickly can add up to fifty bucks or so!

I have an 8887, and its CMOS battery is in a holder. Some of us have even removed it to reset stuff.

Welp, I'm off to Radio Shack. I'm going to try an install my own batter holder (if they have one).

If the CMOS battery is welded into the latest Sager, I'm not buying one... Just kidding.
