Acer Ferrari 3200 Info - Page 3

Does Ferrari 3200 come with the no-dead-pixel policy from Acer? It would s*ck to get a brand new baby with inborn factory defects.

As I know, the no-dead-pixel policy is only offered by PCTorque.
Here are some nice technical specs and pics of the F3200:

There are also some words about upgrading the RAM.

It's in French! That Sucks!

But still a great find

Roughly translated it says.

The new AMD kicks ass. The old AMD also kicks ass. The difference between old and new is only important if the clock speed changes

Tron, of course now you have to start thinking about the new 900 pin socket for AMD codenamed Toledo that'll be released in the second quarter of 2005. And, DDR3 too ... not to mention multi cores ...

Those won't be that useful until all memory is solid state. Things like PCI-Express and easily upgradeable GPU's will help a lot now. By the time the industry moves to solid state, it will be time to buy a new laptop. This coming technology is less than 6 months away, and since laptops aren't priced like PPC's, I won't be buying a new laptop every 6 months like I do with PPC's. In other words, this wait fits the typical notebook buying period while the thing you mentioned don't.

The dead-pixel policy of Acer does sound alarming!

If I understand the legalities of what they say in their *Limited Warranty* (indeed), they can screw up the screen and I won't be able to do anything about it. It seems that even if half of the pixels are dead, Acer is not legally responsible to replace the screen... ouch!

At least Dell, had some 4 or 10 suck-pixel limit...

Found this on another notebook forum. It's article/press release from Acer about the 3200. They say it gets "up to 4 hours" of battery life. <g>
