For Sale: Sager NP8880

I leave for NM in just over a week, and I figured I would put my laptop for sale on here before eBay. I am selling it because I was originally an engineering student which required a laptop but have since changed majors and universities. I am going to build a desktop when I return from NM because I don't need a laptop. I used the laptop for gaming mostly and a little engineering stuff.

Here are the specs:

  • The 8880's unique features include a TV tuner and multi-function remote control that does everything from turning on the notebook to controlling the Audio DJ CD player to changing the channels. The 8880 also features a detachable SD Memory Portable Storage unit with a MP3 player module to transfer data with USB to other systems, or take the module for music on the go.
  • 15.7" SXGA Active Matrix Display
  • Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor 2.0
  • 512 MB 266MHz PC2100 DDR
  • 40.0 GB Ultra DMA Hard Drive
  • 8X DVD/8x8x24 CD-RW Combo drive
  • Smart Li-ION Battery
  • TV-Tuner with Remote, Detachable MP3 Player Modular
  • 512KB on-die Cache
  • ATI MOBILITY RADEON 7500 64MB DDR
  • Built-in 3.5" FDD
  • Wavetable 3D Stereo Advance AC97
  • Touchpad with Scrolling Keys
  • 2 Type II or 1 Type III PCMCIA Slot
  • Infra Red, Wireless Fast IR interface
  • 4 USB Ports
  • 1 IEEE-1394 Port (6 PIN)
  • Other Ports: 1 S/PDIF out & microphone in, 1 infrared, 1 headphone, Sony Memory Stick port, 1 parallel, 1 Serial, 1 PS/2 keyboard, 1 SVGA video, 1 S-Video-Out, 1 S-Video-In, 1 RJ-45, 1 RJ-11
  • Additional Features: Integrated 10/100Mbps Ethernet LAN & V.90 56K Fax/Modem
  • Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition
  • Standard Carrying Bag
  • Auto Switch 110/220V AC Adapter, AC power cord, Multifunction Remote Control, User's Manual, Utility CD
  • Dimension (H) x (W) x (D) : 2.15"x14.17"x11.77" Weight: 12.0lbs. with Battery

It has a few problems. There is one bad pixel in the upper right side of the screen. The battery only holds a 5 minute charge (enough to save your work if the power goes out ). The paint was wearing off on the palm rest underneath the keyboard so I went ahead and sanded it off last week (you could either repaint it or leave it). It's a pearly white...I kinda wish the whole laptop was this color. I have never had a problem with the running of the laptop. As I said earlier, I've used it mostly for gaming (America's Army, UT2K4, Rise of Nations, ect.). It has treated me beautifully, and I hope it finds a happy home.

$800 (+shipping) or best offer. Thanks.

I'll post pics as soon as I can find my phantom digitical cam. I'll be listing this on eBay on either tomorrow or Friday depending on interest here. Feel free to ask any questions about the laptop.

I kinda like the white palm-rest! Nice machine and a terrific price! BTW: PC Torque can probably still order the battery from Sager... have you checked? Might be worth while.

Know what you mean about the 5-minutes. I have about 10-15min on my 8887 (I never use battery, so it's only when I knock the power cord out with my knee I notice).

Yeah, I kinda wish the whole machine was this pearly white color. If I were keeping it, I might go through the trouble of sanding it all down.

The battery is still available, I just don't see the need of ordering one when I'm about to sell it.

I love the machine, but I really need a desktop; having both isn't an option for me - a broke college student.
