Try un-installing the hotfix from control panel if you haven't already.
I just downloaded and installed all the fixes on tuesday for the new 5690, I'm not sure if the one you're talking about was included? I didnt notice any problems

Yeah it quite possibly just might have been a coincidence that something else went wrong sometime around when you got that update. no problems here either. Doubt microsofts patch would not allow you to use their own software..just doenst sound like them

Or you could try restoring to an earlier time via system restore.

I'm completely up to date on my critical patches and have no problems.

No problems here. Did you inadvertently do a "clean disk" or something like that which would have discarded your "canned" passwords/profiles, etc? Sort of sounds like this kind of thing happened. What type of error message/symptoms are you getting when you "can't use" various services?

Well its not the update, something to do with my wireless connection at work.

When i got home from work last night and plugged my 8790 into my LAN. There was no issue.

Odd. Websites load instantly on my wireless, can game with no lag issues.

Just certain things like i listed above..hrm.

Guess ill play with some settings.

Well this is a wild guess, but it sounds like your IT admins purposely set restrictions on the corporate network

hehe, im at my business.

I'm the admin, boss all that. So 100% there are no restrictions ;p

Its not a large wireless network, just my wife and I use our laptops to game during slow times

Anyhow, thanks for any in-put

Lol, that's the kind of job I want. Kudos for finding a wife that plays games...

My girlfriend and I used to play Diablo II 4 hours at a time, and also Desert Combat, but now after 7 months she doesn't play anymore because her laptop "frustrates" her (Dell 5100, which is understandable")
Any ideas how to fix this without buying a new laptop for her?

Amir theres 2 possible problems,

A. shes either tired of those games, or B. ya the laptop is too sluggish.

My wife goes in and out of liking different games rather quick.

She was raised by a dad who was into table top gaming and fantasy, pretty much the reason she loves to game.

We mainly play MMORPGS together (everquest/daoc/) right now we play Lineage 2.

But ya we met online, so right there we had something in common via our hobbie.

Yes, i consider myself very lucky.

Now back to my little wireless connection problem.

If i open a new browser window it will load websites fast but after a couple of different links it stops loading, i have to close it and open a new one to get a website or link to load.

There is little to no lag online gaming, mainly this web browsing problem.

The signal strength is "excellent". Im sort of new to wireless, so if any Gurus could help me solve this one, id really appreciate it.

D-link Wireless router tech support very nice, speedy and it worked

-"You might try lowering the MTU value on your router. MTU can be changed to accommodate fragmentation of packets; specially encoded packets with secured data can be too large for the current MTU and cause too much fragmentation."

Just in case anyone out there has the same issues
