widescreen gaming question

Ok, since some games don't support the widescreen resolutions (in my case, 1280x800 cuz i have the WXGA screen) they end up being stretched to the sides of the screen. Is there any way to make them stay in the regular aspect ratio and have black bars on the sides/top?

I know some people can't stand the black bars, but I can't stand the stretched display when gaming.

Thanks for any help.

Go to Display Properties > Settings > Advanced > Displays > Panel. You can uncheck "scale image" there.

Awesome, thanks man!

I'm so used to desktops that I didn't even think of going to that page of the video properties.

I would keep "Scale Image" ticked, but change the option from Expand to full panel size to Expand while maintaining aspect ratio. This will mean that the image will enlarge to fill the entire vertical space hence leaving no black bars on top and bottom, but will keep its aspect so that there are bars on either side. Makes it a bit more visible without the distortion.
