I'm currently in a public library and i wanted to play an audio cd but everytime i play the cd the drive starts making the most f#$% up noise i have ever heard.
to describe what it sounds like is hard. It sounds like a hand massager being placed on top of a hard surface.

Makes me want to check to insure that the CD was properly inserted. Then if it was a homemade CD with a homemade "sticky" type label; I'd say the label was off balance. I don't use the labels anymore as they can cause the CD to actually "explode" on high speed readers. Just use those good old Sharpies for labeling.

You might also try reducing the devices read spead, if it is possible, and that will reduce some of the noise as the drive attempts to calibrate to the high speeds.

Its an off balance CD. I had the same problem last night with a homemade CD with a crappy label on it.

Yeah cd was properly inserted, i thought that was the case apparently not. The cd was an audio cd i purchased from ameba records in L.A. with its own case and label. It worked later when i inserted a burned cd. Not sure why it would do this when i did not change or take out the cd from the other day and it worked fine.
