eMachine M6809 Hard Drive

Thread Starter
I recently purchased the M6809 after diligently investigating laptops for over a month. I was days away from buying a chopped up HP for about $1200 that had about 1/2 of what I wanted (I really wanted an AMD64 and a DX9.0 card). The closest I could find was a Pavilion, but it had a GeForce Go440 . Then I just happened to be at BB and browsed through the notebook section... low and behold.... the M6809 with sick rebates! I picked it up and could not be happier.

My question is about the 80gig hard drive. I really don't want to crack the machine open... can anyone confirm the manufacturer of the drive and the speed? It does fairly well on Sandra and I am thinking it may be a 5X00rpm drive and not the 4200rpm drive floating about. Also, is it a Hitachi drive? Any help here woyuld be great (I am brand new to the forums here and am pretty excited about digging in to this beauty)!

The hard drive slides out with 1 screw. Very Easy.

Start->Right Click "My Computer"->Properties->Hardware tab->Device Manager->Expand "Disk Drives" node. You'll see something like "HITACHI_DK23FA-60" (there may be spaces or underscores in after manufacturer name). The part after manufacturer name is the model number, feed it to Google and profit.
