Extra Primary Battery Color Keyed?

Thread Starter
I ordered an extra primary battery with my Sentia and just assumed that it would be color keyed (cyborg green) to match the 'puter. However, I have seen some photos of peoples fresh orders which look to have just plain black batteries as spares. What should I expect the spare's color to be?

Thanks,

I emailed my sales rep (Leonardo) who said that they don't sell color keyed spares. However, he said that the colored bezel on the battery is removable so that I could put the green bezel on the spare if I wanted and he sent instructions to do so. If this is the case then I'm happy. So the question is, is what Leo said true?

thanks,

Yes, the secondary battery is black, but it actually looks pretty sweet on the cyborg green Sentia. It really accents the grips, DVD Drive, Keys, and Mouse if you ordered one. Here's a few pictures of mine with the black battery.

Thanks for the pics. You are right that the black battery doesn't look too bad at all. I'm still curious though as to the bezel change-out being doable?

I understand that and realistically I probably won't. It is more an academic question. So for the love of god... will someone answer the question. Can you change the bezel?!?

I don't see any screws or clips that makes the "bezel" swap easy.

By the bezel, do you mean this?

The term "bezel" started getting used around here.

The sticker with symbols on your battery is off?

Here is what my AW sales rep sent me....

<-- Begin possibly inaccurate but "bezel" filled instructions -->
Instructions to remove the bezel:
1. Read the label on the battery. The bezel will be located on the left
side of the battery.
2. Push the bezel upwards.

Instructions to attach the bezel to the battery:
1. Read the label on the battery.
2. Carefully, align the rails on the bezel to the top left hand corner of
the battery.
3. Push the bezel down to snap
<-- End possibly inaccurate but "bezel" filled instructions -->

Does this make any sense? If not that my rep is probably smoking crack (yes... out of a crack pipe with a bezel).

Some may be a little more adventurous and try to follow those instructions. But I would advise smoking some crack before doing anything.

Yeah, I don't want to be responsible for any exploding battery-warranty voiding-carpet staining-profantity spewing incidents. The only thing I might guess is that the "bezel" is the whole flat part of the battery along the top??? Those of you who have actually own these know better than I do. All I've got to work with are other people's pics and sales rep's info. Two notoriously bad sources.... except in the case of booga who should be up for some kind of Pulitzer for Excelence in Sentia Jouralism.

A disturbing trend on this board...

I don't want to offend anybody here but I find this complete distrust of customer service disturbing. You trusted them enough to buy their product, but you regard CS as clueless/deceiving/useless. It may not apply to THIS particular case but I've seen this alot:
CS says this. What do you complete strangers think? Are they lying?

Or:

I posted this problem in ten different threads. I reformatted/reinstalled like you said, but the problems still there. It seems you guys are stumped. Please help me, my machine has been down for a month now. I've asked everyone but my priest for advice on this. Oh, yeah, and those inept lying bastards at CS. Why call them? Noone is helping.

Or:

I know you guys are all trained AW techs. I'm too shy/scared to call CS, please help me out.

People, there are dudes on call 24/7 via a toll free number paid by the company that designed and built your laptop for the express purpose of answering your questions. Sometimes they are misinformed, yes. But in no way are they to be mistrusted right off the bat. IMHO, I'd still go to them first and have a decent enough amount of faith in their answers.

Rant over.

The reason I posted this is for one simple reason... _I don't have my sentia yet._. I am not mistrusting CS because CS is not who I spoke to. I got this info from a sales rep. AW might be different, but at most places sales reps and CS rarely speak to each other. Bottom line is that since I have no way of confirming what the SR said was true I thought I'd post this so that those who've got the product in front of them can either say A) "Duh, this would obvious if you had your laptop, stop bothering us", B) "Wow, I didn't know it would do that", or C) "WTF, the SR must be on crack". Any one of these three answers can only be arrived at by those with the product at hand. I'm not dogging AW, their staff, their families, their pets, or their heritage. It is, or at least was, a simple question about a battery, not a crusade against the dark forces of Alenware.

I'm sorry if my rant seemed or appeared to be aimed at you. It wasn't. It was just in general. And as you have pointed out, it doesn't apply to your situation at all. You are completely justified to be asking this question. I'm just butting in. My bad. Just something I had to get of my chest and didn't feel like creating a new thread about. Again, sorry.
