if I get the MX900, I should be good to go, right? nothing else needed?

I'm interested in it too. I'm going to connect base of MX900 to my desktop and use as blueTooth adapter only, not connected to the mouse. The mouse will be used with notebook only. Will it work? Can I make them not interfere with each other?

I've been using the MX900 for about 5 days now on an XPS using the internal Bluetooth adapter. It's been working quite well with a couple of exceptions:

1. After a complete shutdown/restart of the system, about 50% of the time it is not immediately recognized. I have to do a search of bluetooth products and push the connect button on the bottom of the mouse to put it in "discoverable mode", then instuct the computer to connect to it. It takes about 10 to 20 seconds to do all this.

2. The task switch button (second button down from the wheel) is not usable.

All other buttons seem to work as advertised, however it looks as though you cannot customize the buttons to anything other than it's default settings. To do this, you have to attach and use the base station and use the Logitech software. Not a problem for me as I'm happy with and prefer the defaults anyways.

Interesting experience... I'm going to buy MX900 this weekend, play with it and return it in case of problems...

Do XPS and i9100 have the same internal bluetooth adapted? Maybe some voodoo magic around drivers may help?.. Is it passible that your first problem depends on position of the mouse reletive to the notebook?

Does anybody have experience with other bluetooth mice? What about "Microsoft Bluetooth Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer"?

Yes the 9100/XPS/8500/8600 all use the same bluetooth module.

Yes its been reported the Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse works also with the internal bluetooth module.

Also note those of you with MX700/900 should consider investing in better batteries sinc eyou can increase the life by over 50% using for example the PowerEX 2300 mAH batteries or Energizer 2300 Econo batteries
