HELP! Need to know, emachines M6805 vs. HP zv5000z

HELP! I am looking at two laptops, the emachines M6805 and the hp zv5000z. What is really important to me is gaming, but I here the difference between the Radeon 9600 and the Nvidia 4 40 is small, plus the hp is supposed to be better. Does anyone know how to find a laptop with the Athlon 64, good graphics, and no more than $1500? I wish emachines or hp would let you upgrade the graphics, but I dont think you can. 128 mb dedicated and an Athlon 64 with a reasonable price is my dream. Thanks for helping!

so small???? you can't be serious. the nvidia 440 BLOWS. Horribly. Seriously. That card is what, like 2 years old or so? Your best bet, without a doubt, is the emachines. It really is a great laptop.

Checked out the amd forum and those people were hopping mad that HP gave it that video card which they consider to be pretty much crap. So if its gaming you want go for the Emachine, I checked it out at a local store and someone was kind enough to install a demo of Farcry onto it and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it worked!

Oh yeah, and several forum members consider the HP/Compaq brand to be pretty crappy, I can't say for myself as I've yet to try it, but the happiest customers I've seen seem pretty forced or weren't expecting too much in the first place.

Thanks guys. I'll go with the emachine then. I suppose no one knows/there is no notebook with athlon 64 and 128 mb video under $1500? If so, it sounds like the M6805 is the best bet. Thank you!

Oh, but there is, just that I'm not sure about its quality as I am to Emachines' (never thought I'd say that!), but I've heard good things about it from people.

The Battaltion 101 SL-Series from ibuypower can can be configured to $1481 with the following specs:

Athlon 64 3000+
512 MB of RAM
ATI Radeon 9600 128 MB
40 GB 5400 RPM
DVD/CDRW
No Windows

hmmm... now I have to decide between the emachines and that nice looking Battalion. If anyone knows anything about the Battalion that would be great, like battery life, heat, sound, reliability, customer service, etc. Nowing most gaming laptops I hope it isn't a short battery life laptop that overheats or has a really loud fan. Any info would be useful, thanks a ton!
