An awesome notebook, a Sager 8790, at my favorite place on earth, Walt Disney World...does it get any better??

Yea, I played a lot of the levels on my big screen (in the dark of course) and some of these levels spooked the hell out of me!

Sager in the Sand at the beach

This is my boss making the final touches on a Surf contest competition format rule book in a tent on the beach in the middle of nowhere. Everyone in that tent were mac heads, but I shut them out by setting up this last minute emergency office because all of their powerbooks/ibooks were damaged by the sand/wind/moisture. Gotta say, love my Sager.

A little messy (the dust is still there from the desktops that have been replaced! hah!), but you guys get the picture ... if you need any heavy duty sound design or soundtracking, i'm your man

Whoa!! That is a hell of a nice recording studio you got there!
Nintariman, is that a Sony A170 on the left? And what's parked to the R of the 8790? Toshiba?
It's a Sony PCG-Z1WA (1.7GHz Centrino) -- just for traveling ... sorry guys, 10 pounds is a little much for me

and the other is a HP ZD7000, The 8790's "slightly smaller" brother... 3.2GHz P4 EE / 128MB GeForce FX Go5700 model Modded w/ 60GB 7200RPM system disk and 1GB DDR400. 2 x mirrored 250GB Firewire drives for data storage.

the 8790 is a P4 3.4 EE / Dual 60 GB 7200RPM HDD's @ RAID 1 for system disk / 2GB DDR400 ... 2 Mirrored 320GB Firewire Lacie Big Disks for data Storage. ... Yeah, I wasn't messing around when I redid my studio. I don't want to touch anything setup-wise for at least a few more years. My aim was quiet and powerful, and it's pretty much been achieved... and look! The 20" Apple Cinema Display working via DVI as the primary display with the 8790 at it's native resolution

Yup, lot's of stuff there ... I could keep goin and goin.

Nice setup Enough to make an army o' notebook owners envious.

Not sure if it's the angle or lighting or how it really looks, but the Apple screen looks a lot brighter than the Sager screen.

nintariman, are those some mackie monitors? i used to have a full studio setup with 2x mitsubishi 18.1" LCD's, protools, akai mpc, roland fantom etc...

i had some fostex pm-1's, but wanted the behringer truths. have you heard them in person before?
how did you get the mac monitor to work on a pc?

That battery thing is great. I get about 1 1/2 hrs runtime out of it and I can jumpstart my truck with it (I've done it-it works). I like to travel alone to remote places and I must be self-sufficient. My last laptop, a Compaq, left alot to be desired but this Sager just kicks!

Hey lois, where can i get that power pack in the states? I'm in Southern California. Looks awesome, as my battery dies pretty fast on a sager, and i would love to be able to just cruise around in my bronco and work on my laptop. Are there any other power packs for laptops that are much more portable?

You need the Apple ADC to DVI converter to run a PC on an Apple Display , there are a couple of other companies that also make them.. The brand new aluminum Apple displays have DVI connectors so the adapter is unnecessary with them
post #39 of 81
Mackie HR824s and an HRS120 subwoofer under the desk -- I've had Alesis M1s, Alesis Prolinear 720DSPs ... The HR824s blow all of them away ... the best monitors I've ever heard. Yes, the Apple Cinema Display is working via the Apple ADC to DVI converter.

The Apple Screen is a WHOLE lot brighter than the sager screen, but that's to be expected, as it's, well, a standalone LCD, which always seem to be way brighter than notebook LCDs.

the zd7000 and the 8790 have the same exact screen, I think.
