Notebook Anti-Glare filter

Thread Starter
I just my Acer 8003 about a week ago, and while I have been using it I have realized that the screen is not very impressive. Different parts of the screen (especially in the vertical plane) have different shades of black (or any color), therefore limiting my viewing angle. This also happens in the horizontal plane, but to a lesser degree. I believe this may be related to glare. I noticed on my friends Toshiba Satellite P25 there is a built in anti-glare filter that really improves the contrast and viewing angles compared to my LCD.

Has anyone used an aftermarket filter like the 3M AF15.0?

Would applying an aftermarket filter really improve what I am trying to remedy with my LCD?

Anyone else with the 8000 series notebook experiencing similar problems?

this is common among non high gloss screens, ie sony xbrite, fujitsu screen, new hp gloss screens, sager 4080, etc

LDRunner:

Your symptoms do not seem to be related to glare; they just indicate poor quality. If you are not happy with your screen, you should ask for screen replacement or simply return the notebook.

I've got Acer TM 800 at work, and its viewing angles are not very good. Perhaps they are just using the same screen in the 8000 series?
