Anyone other than me get a referb 8600?
I got mine 4 months ago and haven't had any problems and saved a ton of $$$

I've thought about getting a Refurbished i8600, but only about 5% of them have anything greater than a WXGA display. Plus, when you do find one that is WSXGA+ or WUXGA, you end up saving maybe, maybe $100.00 on the deal. So -- unless I find one that really suits what I want it to do - with the correct display and wireless card -- then I'll buy a new Dell.

I would buy a refub'ed model, but I have rather exacting requirements. Besides, most don't have the 128MB video card.

Unforunately, great refurbs constantly pop-up on the refurb site...but there are a few users (I am assuming they are resellers), who quickly buy them!! For example, one time, I had a real nice I8600 spec'ed with 1.7 PM, 512 1 Dimm, 128 MB ATI, Secondary Battery, APR, DVD+RW, and WUXGA for 1900 and after the coupons it came to like 1550 with free shipping, but before I could check out (which took long since I don't live in the US and had to find the address of a relative to whom I could ship it to, etc.), someone had already taken it. Most of the times, refurbs are really nice. For example, I once bought a Latitude X300 (refurb), and then had seen the smiley face on the screen, and immediately called Dell. CS offered a system exchange for a better spec'ed new X300 and like 300 USD credit!

Ugh.....don't bring back the memories, Ramkumar.

Back when I was 10 or so my dad was gonna' buy me a refurbished laptop from Dell just for me to piddle around with.

Well, everytime he found a cheap one and checked out to purchase it...they had already been bought.

Eventually, he just gave up....and I never got one.
