I can’t believe I just broke my wife’s keyboard.

So ah let me tell you a little story, computer gets put on floor (this is asking for trouble ) left open (asking for more trouble ) next to the recliner (oh Lord ) well to make a long story short my cell phone slipped off of the arm rest and bounced off the keyboard taking with it the end key. So I guess I’m off to play with the kids at customer service.

Let this be a lesson to all.
Have a good one people.

p.s. any tips for getting just a keyboard sent out. I would rather that then pulling the drives and sending the chaise.

Cant you just replace the key? I did that when one of the keys from my sager broke in half. They just sent me the key and I put it in and presto.

Is that defined as 'after-play'?

Does she know about it yet?

Well, fortunately or unfortunately, dell will send the entire keyboard, as it is just easier that way, rather than sending the specific key (keys can get mixed up, etc. making it an inefficient process, also, keys can easily get lost during shipping, costs....and the list goes on). Anyway, call Technical Support to replace the keyboard for you.

is the key broken? my left arrow key popped off and after some manipulation got it to snapped back in.

I have popped my keys on and off several times to clean behind them. Have a look behind to see if the scissor arms are still OK and the clips on the key are not snapped off.
If they are OK, remove the scissor arms from the keyboard and snap them into the appropriate clips on the back of the key. Then just line it up with the keyboard clips and push it firmly back into place, voila!
If any of the hings are broken then Dell will send out a totally new keyboard....

Unfortunately not. My Dad has my digital cam as he is currently working in London indefinately, and is building up a nice collection. You have to be careful and slow in prying them up, but I have yet to break one....
