Samsung SN-308B DVD Troubles

Hi.
I have the samsung sn-308b cdrw/dvd combo drive in my laptop.
I installed windows xp sp1 and now windows won't read my dvd discs.
I have tried all types of discs, official dvd discs, dvd-r, dvd+r, and no dvd works. The drive can read regular cd,cd-r,etc. but when i put in a dvd, it just keeps seeking and flashing that green loading light until it times out.

I've tried uninstalling the drivers, and then letting windows xp install its own drivers, but that didn't work. I can't seem to find the drivers anywhere for this drive online. (Also this drive is at Rev: U003 I believe)

Please let me know if there's anything i can do besides reinstalling windows, or if i should try to install that service pack 1.

I have same problems. The drive used to read DVDs but now it won't work. I have already updated firmware to U007 no luck. If you find out anything let me know. I have already updated to SP2 etc.

do your drives ever work? do they read regular software disks or anything? i got my 8890 for the purpose of the 2 drives in a lappy, and the cdrw/dvd is the one that never works. it will stall startup if a disk is in etc. i have concluded that no software will fix it, via tech support and my own trials, thus i have resorted to realizing i need to RMA. sager told me that i can take the drive out and ship the drive only if i am comfortable doing it. you gents might want to look into the same option. good luck and let me know the answers
