Walkthrough: Samsung LCD Replacement Kit Install - Page 2

hmmm. I got my lcd replacement kit in the mail... except, it is actually the whole top half of the computer, in a bag marked "samsung, refurbished". I don't quite know what to make of this... I did buy a new computer... should I really be using a refurbished display?

belarc advisor says it is a "Seiko Epson 15.4"; is this actually a samsung?

hmm... i think that there is more light leakage at the bottom of the screen with this monitor...

Call and complain. they My ask u to send back ur system. but just make sure they dont screw u man. maybe they send u a refub Because u wanted to do it urself. just make it easy tell them that u going to refund the system (if they do pass you to get it refund just hang up and call back again and if they tell you need to send the system tell them i can do it by myself and tell them to send u the LCD. anyway let me know how it works out. i was mad pissed wheni found out that after the 30 day u get refub things. but when u have a new system they kiss ur ass all the time just thought i let u know.

On the phone they said that all the lcds they send out to customers are tagged as refurbished, but that they are new screens, merely tested by dell. I don't know how much of that to believe...

they're sending me out another sxga+... I'm toying with the idea of getting a WUXGA screen instead... The font is already pretty small for my 27 year old nonspectacled eyes...

Do the UXGA screens have any light leakage?

Seiko Epson as identified in those system utilities is the Samsung screen. Well how bad is the light leak on this one?

please let me know if it is marked "refurbished" or not. (my first one was marked "refurbished-samsung". My second one was due here today, but DHL screwed up, and it'll be here tomorrow...

Also, the replacement screen that you receive(d) is the entire top half of the laptop, correct? The one I received was the entire top half of the laptop, and took about 10 minutes to install...

So, did yours come in a bag marked "refurbished"? (A box. Inside the box, padding, and then inside a bag containing the top half of the laptop. That bag--- is it marked refurbished on the sticker?)

now, what the hell...

Today, I got my 2nd replacement sxga+ monitor. It still has light leakage, and after booting up, I ran Belarc advisor, and it was a hitachi. That's funny, it was in a "refurbished-samsung" bag again...

What the heck dell?

You know, the one thing that I think is better about this hitachi (and the first), compared to the samsung (the 2nd monitor) is the viewing angles. I can look at this guy from almost any angle whatsoever, and the screen looks almost the same. That could not be said about the samsung I received. Looking from angles off to the side, the screen would look a bit different... but still, I went into one of our closets to get maximum darkness, and displaying a plain black screen, there's all sorts of light at the bottom...

dunno what to do... I guess I should try at least to get them to send me a "new" monitor, as opposed to a refurbished... but I have no idea if that will help or not...

by the way, belarc advisor says that the current monitor is
Hitachi 15.4 [Monitor] (15.4"vis, August 2003)
Is this the revised hitachi monitor, or the original?

i would suggest u dont say with the those screen i mean u paid for it. make sure u let them know that u no tgoing to take this BS. if they are waiting for the 30 Day to pass by tell them that if the next monitor they send you does work u are going to return the system. or just call them and tell them that u are going to return the system. when they pass you to the people the do the return they are going to ask u way and u tell them y and they maybe able to help you by sending u something the works. Man i dont know what to tell you u just have to open ur mouth and let them know u mean business (no cussing at them that isnt going to help you if u know what i mean). so i mean u got it last monday say something like i got this laptop blabla and u keep on sending me Refurb screens the dont work. y can u send me something that works. i don tknow what to tell you man just dont say with something that i messed up. u pay ur hard worked or ur parents. if i was to have this problem Dell would hear form me everyday and if in a week they didnt fix my problem i would send my system back for sure. and just reorder or something.
