and sure for many people paying the extra money isnt a big deal, but rather than the deal pixels being random, the richer just dont get them, and more are shoved on the lesser fortunate pcers.
its kind of like playing russian roullete and paying to skip your turn...
i guess "scam" wasnt the proper wording for this, but its not something i appreciate nor beleive should become the industry standard.
and someone mentioned fnw, when the fragbooks page was first up, fnw claimed to offer a completly free no dead/lit pixel gurrantee, but now they have changed the wording around quite a bit and basically now theyll only replace your screen if it has bad pixels in the "center viewing area", but anyone who bought a fragbook when the page just said no bad pixels, gets the 100% no bad pixel gurantee. fnw's pixel policy is still free and is the same to ALL its customers btw.
Not sure where you are getting your information about Falcon Northwest, but here is from their site.
“All FragBooks ship with 100% perfect displays. No dead pixels, no stuck pixels. Furthermore, if your display develops even one dead or stuck pixel while your FragBook is under warranty, just return the unit to us and we will replace the display free of charge.”
And as far as Hypersonic’s policy, I think its great they offer it. I know that I will only buy a laptop from a company that offers the policy, and most of Hyperonic’s laptops only charge $49 more for guaranty no dead pixels, 17” is a bit more at $119. And even if you don’t pay the extra for no dead pixels, Hypersonic guarantees no more then One dead pixel and that One wont be in the center view for their non-17” screens. The 17” screens aren’t so great with the screen haveing no more than 1 dead/partially-lit pixel in the center screen area and no more than 2 dead/partially-lit pixels outside of the center area. Now this is again at no extra charge. What sucks is that a majority of companies don’t consider your screen bad unless you have 5-6 or more. That’s nuts!!!!!
