I didn't see anything in the owners manual that had to do with my problem. Sorry.

Do you have the answer ? Please help me.

IR port is a waste of time anyway, low bandwidth. Not worth the effort unless you're running a printer off the sucker.

Well perhaps he is running a printer off it..or maybe he doesn't feel its useless? Come on, where are we, general mayhem?

Dan: I don't know what you're trying to pick up (details would help). My 5620 with default drivers installed for it works fine (XP Pro) with my HP Laserjet 2100. Thats the only thing I've got that uses it.

The only time I've used the IR port was when I had the 8886 and 5660 next to each other and they auto detected each other. An icon appeared on the desktop to transfer files. VERY slow for large pictures, but text files was fine. I've never tried to use it other than that. I can't think of anything off the top of my head other than making sure it's in the Device Manager with drivers and is enabled. Also, pull the clear protective sticker off the lens. Otherwise you may need to call or email Sager tech supprt.

Someone posted a recommendation in one of the other threads that said you need to go into the bios and change the setting from FIR to IrDA.... You might try that (I can't remember which thread it was, but I am pretty sure it was in the technical support forum).

Ottbr, I run my SE T68i, which also has Bluetooth, but I personally haven't had great luck with Bluetooth, so I like using the IR better, and yes I know it's low bandwith. but I am using it to transfer tiny files from my phone to my 5660 and vice versa,

that's all....

I also use it to sync my Outlook with my phone which is very nice !

You are quite welcome! I am pretty lost as to why the default settings in the bios are the wrong ones... So far, all I've seen are problems with it that are solved by changing the setting.... I wonder if it ever works on the default settings (like if some things require it one way and others another, etc). Oh well.
