Question about 3DMark03

I don't know if it's just me, but for some reason at framerates between 10-20 on the 3DMark03 test it will run smoothly for a second or two, and then skip forward a little bit, then run smoothly. What's the cause of that and how can I fix it?

the system is lagging then it catches up then lags again and repeats.

its because this benchmark is the worst piece of software ever written for testing a computers performance.

Or maybe you need to upgrade your 1980 Amiga 3mhz computer

i think my 4ghz p4 rig with 9800pro @ 454/380 is more than sufficient, thanks.

3dmark01se is a great test although its not demanding enough anymore. it determines performance based on several factors including ram speed, fsb, cpu clock, and video clocks/chipset.

3dmark03 says to hell with the computer, lets just see what video card you have and assign your score based on that alone. i have seen a 1ghz athlon computer with a highly modified 9800xt score nearly 8,000 while my 4ghz p4 with moderately overclocked 9800pro scores around 6,000-7,000. tell me thats fair? its a good judge of system performance? i will guarantee my 4ghz p4 rig will be a much better gaming machine than the 1ghz amd athlon. the benchmark is completely faulty and should not be used for ANY purpose at all.
