Toshiba SD-R2412 CD-RW Drive

UPDATE: Sager has replaced the drive, and is sending it back to me. it seems that there was a bad batch, so get an RMA to have yours replaced if you are having problems.

Recently i have been unable to burn the media i was previously able to burn. It is the problem that many other members have been having. I sent an email to Sager Support and they asked me to RMA my drive. I will update when i get it back or any information about it.

I hear of this occasionally. With such a quick request to RMA it, they must realize they got a bad batch of drives from Toshiba or whoever makes 'em.

i recieved my new cd-rom today, but when i plugged it in and started up the notebook, it would lock up. i have to keep it disabled otherwise the system will lock up. they sent me a 2512 model so there must have been problems with the 2412

Or Toshiba no longer makes/ships the 24xx ? I cannot imagine how frustrating this must be for you. Sorry about this, I hope it gets resolved soon.

yea it's pretty damn frustrating. windows xp is a POS because i couldn't just plug it in and go, and i'm a little mad at sager that i had to go through this, but these sorts of things happen as far as sager goes

Could be the mainboard.... which only sucks WORSE. Just don't yell at Sager when you have them replace it, just be very firm and annoyed.

I hope this gets resolved soon.

god damn it, i can't afford to part with my machine.

i'll ask them to ship me out a cd-rw with a different model, and also ask them to send me a pre-paid slip to send back the old one. i already paid to have it replaced once so i shouldnt have to pay to replace it again.

here's the result from having to ship back my machine. i'm happy with the service i recieved, but am unhappy with having to send it back in the first place. hopefully i won't have to do it again until my phillips warranty kicks in.
