I talked to my sales rep at Powernotebooks.com and they start shipping Monday.

AHHHHHH. I knew as soon as I got mine. it would come out. And its the same price as I paid.

Heat Issues

I hope to order one as soon as it is available at PcTorque. My main question about this is what they have done to deal with the heat issues considering the 3.06 HT processor and ATI 128 meg card. Also, how much battery life are those powerful beasts going to eat?

Yep just talked to them myself, they say Monday Sager starts shipping the systems.

Placing my order now. Damn I wish Adam wasnt in route to Florida, but I cant wait, gotta beat GsFerrari to the punch! LOL
post #5 of 39
My rep said it has a improved cooling systme to deal with the increased proc heat.

Detailed Reports

I want detailed reports from the first person to recieve their 5670....

Beat me??

I am rooted to the next best sager...I could have ordered an 8887 (does that sound like i'm talking about ordering pizzas??) if I wanted HT etc.

I will wait till the 5XXX comes out with the 800Mhz FSB and the M10. Even if the 8XXX comes out first I will still hold till the 5XXX is released with those specs.

Just love the 5XXX series....

Kevin25a - you're gonna be the first I think - do a BIG review. This is the newest thing to happen to sager in some time!!
I'm getting my Sager when the M10 comes out, or it becomes the middle of June. Whichever comes first. But it is nice to know that if I settle with a M9 I will have newer stuff

How do you figure that? The only thing "new" here is the HyperThreading...

I mean, sure the M9/128 and HT were not in the 5660, but they were in the 8887... so is it really "new" ?

I think when the 800MHz FSB and M10 ship out, THAT will be the newest thing to happen. Of course, I am probably just being picky and playing symantecs, but I don't see this as much of a step up (say, as the 8887 was to the 8886).

Well, for one thing it is cheaper than the 8887, which makes a big difference for most people. And also, it is in a smaller box, which also makes a big difference to a lot of people. Plus, a new cooling system if that is true...

If I were to get a laptop now it'd be a 5670 rather than an 8887.
I am still waiting for the 5xxx 9600 Pro w/ 800FSB. I just hope that there is not as big of a gap between the next two models as their have been between the current two. I cant stand the wait much longer!!

green with envy

the faster processor and the increased vidram will make a huge difference in the longevity of the laptop from a gamer's perspective. the specs above are more than a GHz faster than my CPU and double the vidram. yowza! I am jealous. the 8887 had similar specs, but I could take solace in the higher price and greater size/weight of it. the 5670 is just plain lots better for the same money. oh well, I bought my 5660 in November and could not have waited this long to start playing Age of Mythology which would not run on my prior computer so I am glad I bought when I did.

HEY!!! 2.8 with HT ???

How come powernotebooks.com lists a 2.8ghz CPU with Hyper Threading????

http://www.powernotebooks.com/config...5&model_id=246

you think we will be given a bios update for our 5660's as well in the near future?? I have the 2.8Ghz CPU and if it is possible then I want it!!!

Someone clarify...
ill probly grab myself the new 88xx when they get 800mhz FSB and the M10 if it doesnt take to long, kinda need a machine right now.

Maybe intel plans on releasing a new version of the 2.8 ghz processor that will support HT.

That will suck...

That will suck royally...

I wanna bomb intel if this is the case...
Intel announced awhile ago that they are going to support HT on lower clocked chips. If I remember correctly, HT will be supported all the way down to either 2.2ghz or 2.4ghz

How come??

They dont have anything up on the sagernotebooks.com website??

Is powernotebooks also playing the pre-order game or are they doing this on their own?? I am sure we would have seen something on the sager website by now...
