Battery

I notive that Acer does not advertise replacement batteries for the 2025. Is this because the battery is not user replacable?

moogleyfive:
Does the 2025 have a coating on the screen like the SONY XBrite has????

I highly doubt that aamsel. If Acer did that to their screens, it would be on their site. After all, that would attract more customers. If they're doing something to their screens that only a select few are doing, they want the customers to know, not keep it a secret.

Well, again, this is all I could find at ACER, and it sounded sorta, kinda like an IPS screen. More and more laptop companies have now gone to IPS: SONY, Fujitsu, IBM Flexview, a couple of the 17" HP's, etc. They may be a majority soon, who knows.
I am quite sure that I am going to "confine" myself to my current choices, so it was just for informational purposes only.

from ACER America's website:
"Clear Vision - Detects video frame by frame and changes saturation, brightness and contrast controls dynamically to deliver sharper, more vivid image"

I'm assuming it comes with the usual XP Pro installation disc, etc?
I'm thinking of getting one, Newegg has Aspire 2025's for $2,209 (USD). Of course, I can wait until mid July (getting it for college) which means hopefully they'll have 2026's in stock with the Dothan 2GHz and (hopefully??) a gig of RAM. I just want to make sure it has the backup OEM XP-Pro CD so that I can swap out the 80GB 4200rpm hard drive for either an 80GB 5400rpm or a 60GP 7200rpm with 8MB of cache.

Got my 2025, and absolutely love it! It comes with the Acer Rescue disks which would allow you to reload everything as it came on another HD.

Does anyone know if both RAM slots in the 2025 are easily accessible?
Or is it typical of recent Acer designs whereby one of the slots is located under the keyboard?

its typical, one is accessible, the other is under the keyboard

Is it easy to upgrade the hd and ram on this computer? Im thinking i would want a gig of ram and a 60gb 5400 or 7200 rpm drive, but is this economical/possible. If so, could someone point me to a website that would give instructions, and maybe help me to find the right fit of drive and ram? This is much appreciated all

I've never seen a laptop hard drive that "won't fit"...they're all the same standard as far as I know, and I've replaced several. There are multiple screw holes in the hard drive to accomodate a various number of mounting configurations for different manufactures of laptops.
As for RAM, it's probably 200-pin DDR. Both are easily found at Newegg.

Edit: Specifically---
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...145-484&depa=3

Hard Drive: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...146-020&depa=3

If the links don't work, it's 200pin PC2700 512MB of Corsair for $95 and a 60GB 7200RPM 8MB cache Hitachi hard drive for $229.

Hi I've read on various sites that the aspire 2000 series suffers from the "sticky" keys problem? ie where you type something like inininin but end up getting something like ininiiiniinn.. has anyone experienced this problem? I'm considering the aspire 2000 series, TM8000 or the ferrari 3000 but can't really make my mind up as they all have good and bad points.

To tell the truth, I've never actually had a laptop...I just happen to work at a computer shop.

acer aspire 2026

does anyone know when the acer aspire 2026 is coming out in either the UK or the US?

Also is the RAM that is located under the keyboard easy enough to replace?
Its not coming out in the US (at least not under the same name). ACER UK told me this morning that its slated for a late July/August release.

Hi guys, I'm new on this forum, but I actually ordered the Aspire 2025 this past saturday from Newegg. I should get it by Friday at latest (July, 2nd) and I can't wait! This will be my first laptop and I did a lot of research before buying it. Hopefully, it won't dissappoint.

Arcade buttons

Hey folks, i'm new here (1st post).

Does the 202X have the same arcade buttons as 200X ? Don't they bother when having your arms on the notebook? I am just about to buy a 2012WLCi because there are no arcade buttons which leave "imprints" on my forearms...

202X have better features (128MB VRAM, bigger hd, higher cpu clock, subwoofer, arcade modus without XP...) but I am afraid the arcade buttons will bother me when writing with both hands.

And... can you format the harddisk with ntfs? Was not possible with older aspire 20XX...

How big is the linux partition?

thanx

It comes with XP Professional pre-loaded from what I understand, so there is no linux partition on board.
