Acer Aspire 2025WLMi Review, Benchmarks and Pics - Page 5

Hey.

I'm thining about getting the 2025, but I live in the UK so I'd have to import it from the US.

I can seem to get it for around £1,313 inc postage from http://www.shopharmony.com/, which is around $2,400. This may sound a lot, but it's quite cheap for UK prices .

Has anyone hear done this? If so I'd be interested to hear about your experiences. I guess I'd just have to live with the different keyboard layout .

Cheers.

hey pat,

Did you get the 2025 from newegg? If so, can you give a brief review? mostly concern with heat and weight (I am afraid it might be too bulky(cuase of the widescreen!)...thanks

Hi Everyone, I'm looking to buy the Aspire 2026 WLMI

But My main concern is the widescreen tft as I'm going to be mainly using this for gaming use and web browsing & front page.

Sooo I have mixed thoughts if to get the travelmate 8006 over the 2026 if anyone can convince me otherwise.

Please could someone post some pictures of it playing games etc and showing a dvd playing.

Thanks

Pete

This is a pic from my 2012WLMi review of a UT2004 loading screen:

Do note however than UT2004 natively supports widescreen resolutions

Ok so I've had my 2025 for several months now and I absolutely love it---my only complaint is the 4200rpm hard drive but I would disregard this as I'm used to dual 7200rpm drives on my desktop.

The battery life is good (I don't play games), the size of the hard drive is nice (I can use it to back up my desktop), I can take it to class, etc.

As to the partition question:
Mine came with 4 partitions---
For the first one the file system type is "unknown" in Windows, so I'm going to assume it's a Linux partition--it's the Arcade partition. This is ~100MB. This is not shown under "My Computer."
The 2nd is called Acer and is ~70GB. This originally came FAT32 formatted which I quickly (and when I say quickly I mean the day I got it) converted it to NTFS.
The 3rd is Acer's backup partition and takes up around 9-10GB, of which 8 are open for use. I have never put anything on this partition, and it still remains in FAT32 formatting.
The 4th is Acer's "Service" partition...I'm not sure what good it does, though, as it's only 8MB. (2MB open). This is also not available in "My Computer."

One minor annoyance that I haven't fixed yet is that the two rubber "feet" towards the back on the bottom of the laptop have come off due to the amount of friction that they sustain in my bookbag. I'll probably just take some superglue and put them back on at some point but it's fine without them right now.

pretty much all of the 2000 aspire series have either been discontinued or have not, and probably will not, make it to the us market. you can still find a few aspire 2000 series here and there... but they are the "low end" ones (not 2023, 2025, or 2026). too bad because i fell in love with the acer aspire 2026

I'm in the UK and I just purchased the Acer Aspire 2026 WLMi from www.shopacer.co.uk. I was doing some research prior to ordering and discovered that it sometimes comes with Bluetooth, can anyone help me to verify at all? Also does the case scratch easily? Cheers.

Are you in the United Kingdom?

If so I have one that I'm selling for £450, it's in perfect order but minus the hard drive (i used it for something else), 2.0ghz model, 512mb ram, dvdrw, 128mb 9700 gfx, complete with secure (un-used) pin cards

It all works but just needs a hard drive slotting in it.

Let me know if you are interested.

Pete
