My personal opinion is that there is nowhere that sells high quality desktops at a reasonable price. This is because vendors like Dell, etc. have been forced into a pricewar of sorts. The choices (to me) are just:
1.) Buy a cheap Dell, HP box and add a good monitor.
2.) Buy the best components from newegg, etc. and build your own GREAT system.
If you want to go the #2 route but aren't capable of building it, I am sure that you can find someone who will help you put together a parts list, and then build it for you for a few $$ or beer, pizza, etc. To me, this is far and away the best way to go. Any other way and you will get a cheap-ass system or pay too much. The final alternative is to find a "mom-and-pop" computer shop that assembles from quality components that YOU choose (not that they choose.)
