What is the Blue thing u have on the power HDD led and the Battery led. what is the last one for i never seen the one light up on my computer
post #5 of 22
The blue LED (4th one on the hinge) is only active if you have the internal bluetooth module installed on your computer. If you don't have it then it will stay off.

Wow, SilkDawg. That is pretty bad. I got my screen replaced, and the replacement has almost no light leakage. But it does have a lighter area in the bottom-left. But it's not worth another replacement.

Wow, that leakage's quite pretty, like the Northern lights effect we have up here in Canada
post #8 of 22
wow... i'll take a pic of mine, but I just have a solid black background with no leakage. thank God.

I'm quite fortunate that my display has no discernable light leakage even on a black background. I count myself lucky

Light Leakage

Ok, I managed to get some additional photos, basically there is no discernable light leakage, even in a totally dark room, however I deliberately over exposed two of the photos and you can then see some light from the screen, but it is pretty even and not visible to the naked eye.

This one is how it looks to the naked eye in a pitch black room...

This next one was over exposed, with a 1 second shutter speed. You can just see a bit of light at the bottom of the screen.

This last one was massively overexposed. 5 second shutter speed. You can see the light coming from the screen, but it is not visible to the naked eye.

No worries SD, I am keeping my fingers crossed for ya!
Hi SD, has question for you. When you mentioned the third one is coming, do you mean the entire new system or just the lcd?
And if it only lcd, do you have problem to install the lcd? I have hard time to install the lcd replacement and I don't want to force it since they only sent me the refurbished Hitachi lcd.

Radikalis, the third one was a replacement notebook. I have had three notebooks in total and one replacement LCD (installed by service person) All four screens had issues. Light leakage, pixels issues, etc.

All three are going back... 100% refund on the way.

Will write more later, don't have time now as courier on the way... to pick up machines!!

What sucks is I sold my desktop thinking I would have a Dell 9100. Not sure when I will be back...

Dell Support = Excellent. Dell 9100 quality = poor.

OH MAN , Im really not gonna sleep Untill I know for sure that I got a samsung coming to me !! BAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ... I'll let you all know about my nightmares tomorrow.
SD, Man, that is bad news... :-( I am sorry to hear the final one was no good either, If I were you I'd be tearing my hair out with frustration. I must have been kissed by the fairies as my 9100 has been perfect in every way.

Even yesterday, I stupidly damaged the power brick. (Totally my own fault), but 10 minutes on the phone to Dell and they immediately shipped a new one which arrived before 10am this morning, well inside of 24 hours turn around!

I feel for those with problems, but I have to be honest that my experience with Dell, Products, Service and Support has all been exemplary.

They guys at work couldn't beleive the spare power supply turned up within a day and they still oooh and ahhh at the screen and game playing capability of the 9100.

At the very least, you are getting a full refund.

Sorry again SD...
