Hey whats up all? In my desktop I have an AMD Duron 2000+ at 1.3 GHz and I was wondering what is the max CPU I can throw in here without having to flash BIOS. You know can I put a 2500+ in or what? Also, I know my system has 128mb ram(shut up, I know its tiny), but when I open the System properties Windows says I only have 96mb. Is there anyway to get my ram back? This stuff would help, thanx guys.

I have this memory installed in my Inspiron 14R. 6gb (one 2gb & one 4gb). Great performance! I highly recommend Kingston.

We would need to know your motherboard manufacturer and model number. Your current processor tells us nothing about what you are capable of running as that is all dependent on the motherboard. As for the ram, you probably have integrated video (built into the motherboard) and it is sharing with your system ram. The sharing takes place before you get to windows which is why windows only sees 96mb available for use (the other 32 is being used by your graphics chip). You might be able to change how much memory is used for the graphics in your bios, but I wouldn't recommend you changing it.
If you want more memory, you either need to buy a video card (so you get the 32mb back since it's no longer being shared) or buy more memory. 128mb and 256mb chips aren't all that expensive. In fact you might even be able to get some for really cheap or even free from a buddy or someone on the net (assuming that you are using regular pc100/133 sdram). If i was at home and not in afghanistan I would be willing to send you one of my left over pc133 sticks. I have no use for them anymore and they are just collecting dust.

Thanx for the RAM thing, I never thought of that, because I am using integrated video. And with the MOBO type, I have no idea, because I lost my manual that came with the PC and Linare doesn't list what they use on their site. I'll do some rummaging and see what I can come up with though.

Well I found the manual that came with my PC, but it doesn't tell me what kind of MOBO I have, it just gives me chipset names. If that will help you help me out, I'm gonna post em. It has the SiS740 Northbridge and SiS962L Southbridge. It says something about these chipsets supporting DDR 266MHz, Ultra DMA 33/66/100/133. If this will help you guys help, that'd be great. I have no idea where else to look to find out my MOBO type.
