Hey has anyone tried this game out on their lappys yet? In the Eidos forums they say **Laptops are NOT supported** I assume that doesn't pertain to our alienwares but i want to make sure before i run out and buy it

I'll run by Gamestop today and see if they got a copy. I'll try it on my a51m and let you know.

thanks turmoil!..I think that disclaimer might be there for people who get the laptops with intel intergrated graphics cards with no pixel or vertex shader and can't play it

I havn't seen the video off of gamespot but i'm a big fan of the series, i have to see what garret is up to now!

it runs on my lappy (and i have the 9600 blah blah blah). just dont expect it to run any good, cause this game is the same as deusex2, runs like **** no matter how good your computer is...

The only problem i had with deus ex was the occasional freezing and having to reboot

since you have the exact same hardware as i have, i´d love to hear how the heck you managed to get this game to run smooth... even on 640*480 it´s almost unplayable, and this seems to not be a problem on my computer only, as my other darling, an amd fx51 2 gigs ram and radeon 9800 xt, seems to have the same problem (game lagging extremely even on 640^480 with everything on low)...

hmmm, well i've used black vipers page to eliminate alll uneccesary processes, used winpatrol to take out any startup programs i dont want, i defragged my drive after installing the game, i am running the Alienware ati drivers (the omegas give me a few more fps but i have alot of graphical/shadow glotches) I have noticed a slight lag occssionaly so i'll usually overclock my card to engine 392, memory 241 (i got these settings by using the ati tool that comes witht he omegas to find out my max overclocking potential)

a tip i got off the forums is to modify the default.ini:
Slight perfomance boost.
[Engine.GameEngine]
CacheSizeMegs= X

Change CacheSizeMegs= X TO 80% of your ram

Mine is CacheSizeMegs= 350 (from 512 mb ram)

Works on all UT engine based games.

One person noticed a performance boost by just entering 16. The default is set to 1.

I didn't notice a diffrence but it might help you out.
oh i've also noticed a performance incrase when i turn vsync off.

Hope that helps!

graphics all wonky...

In Theif: Deadly Shadows, I get wierdo graphics color corruption on my Nvidia-based 51m, throughout the game. Anyone else get this? Is this a problem with the Deus Ex engine?

Okies. Sorry for the delay. I finally tracked down a copy. I just finished the training mission and everything seems to be working fine. Frame rates are decent and the cut scenes are gorgeous with no hiccups. I think it's gonna be fine, but if I run into any problems I'll let you know.
