Discounts for students??

Hello, this is my first post in this forum.

First, let me inform you that this forum is known overseas, in France precisely. I'm a French student living in LA, doing an internship. So I'm still student.
I would like to buy here (in the USA) a laptop. After looking for every existing PentiumM laptop, I amde my choice on the IBM T41p. But it's very expensive, 3000-4000$ depending of the options. In France, if you're a student, you can have almost 50% rebate on this laptop (around 2300$).
I searched quickly but didn't find any rebate system like this one.

Do you know what rebates are allowed to students in the US? Not only for IBM but for every good brand that have an international warranty?

Sometimes you school institution offers help with computer purchases through rebate programs (check with your school). Also, Apple computer is very "Education friendly" and offers nice size discounts to students in stores on on the website.

When I was at USC, there was an on campus computer store with top of the line new PCs, laptops, Macs all for student prices.

Good luck.

Thank you enderet, whait is the quality of fujitsu laptops?
freestyle, i'm not in a school or something, i'm doing an internship, i work for a company to improve my skills, it's part of my studies. So i don't have access to these rebate programs. Moreover, i don't want an Apple computer, their screens are too small, not enough pixels.

yeah, OSU (GO BUCKEYES) had same kind of store, shame it was closed .. even when it was cheap, people just prefer to get Dell PCs online .. bahhh .. and OSU has this supposedly student-friendly IBM laptop deals, but it's more like 2.5% discount which is close to NOTHING ...

Do you know if I, as an alien student, could benefit of the university rebate?

im sure you could, but your most likely going to have to get whatever laptops you can get discounts on through the university, which probably isnt going to be what you want.

1.8 Dothan Pentium M
512 MB RAM
80 GB 5400 HD
15" Flexview Screen 1600x1200 resolution
ATI FireGL T2 128MB vram
Gigabit Ethernet
Bluetooth
802.11 a/b/g
3 year depot warranty
2X DVD Burner

Pricey but I think a fair price for a well built notebook.
accoding to this post in another thread just for paying with those 3 credit cards you can get 15% off your thinkpad

the t42p discount seems really interesting, but i don't know what is "CC's site".

EDIT : I know what he means by CC but I don't think I will have a credit card that big since it's the first time I live in USA and don't have credit history,
