Considering a Sentia, a few questions...

I'm buying a laptop at the end of the summer.

It's a sentia, a tc1100, or a vaio TR3.

so:

Is there a chance Alienware will revamp it soon? I want a laptop, but the graphics are a sickening letdown on the sentia. The tc1100 has a gf4mx, which is pretty acceptable for basic gaming.

How big is it? I know the screen size.. but is it noticeably "small"? like, can you easily hold it in one hand? I've used a TR vaio and it's clearly a gadget. I don't want a monster fat brick (like the a51-m)

Hmm. That's it. Cheers.

I wouldn't say it's large. I can hold it comfortably under my arm. It's pretty light and it's definetly thin. I'd say maybe an inch and a quarter thick. Which really isn't bad. It's comfortable to have on your lap, and it doesn't feel like you're trying to type on a PDA, nor a full size keyboard. I think AW did a good job with it, I love mine. Good luck with your purchase.

From the choices you list, it is obvious that thin and light is what you are looking for.

The Intel Extreme 2 has not been a let down for me. I play light to moderate load games like Half Life/Counterstrike, War Craft, Diablo, Unreal Tournament, and the heaviest so far - Call of Duty. I have tried playing Call of Duty on a desktop with a 32 MB Invidia and found the game play to be too choppy.

The Intel Extreme 2 is not at the top of the list when compared to other 64 MB video cards, but I find that it is not at the bottom either.

Although the Tc1100 has "gf4mx", it is only 32 MB.

Of course I am only sticking with the models you post. Others may have other suggestions.

I dont think a gf4 is much better if any at all as it is not dx9.

dunqn, Sony is supposed to release a new notebook, the S-series, around August. The notebook is small, with a 13.3 inch widescreen, 64mb ATI 9700, and all close to 4 lbs. If you can, I would suggest that you wait, but keep in mind, ITS A SONY! So get ready for some nasty proprietary BS.

If and when AW decides to put Dothans in the Sentia, Dothan will soon be released with Intel Extreme Graphics 3(though it won't be called that). That's definitely something to look forward to, but I don't see it happening till Winter.

I heard about this -- it looks... divine. I will be getting it late august/early september, so with some luck it will be out by then. 9700m and under 4lb... it's a dream come true! What will battery life be like, do you suppose?

Hopefully it will have a faster HD. At one point I considered a TR3 until I found out that they still slap a slow as sh1t 4200rpm HD into a $2000.00+ machine.

everything i've heard about vaios suggests they suck bad, break down, **** up and all in all are terrible computers. from my preliminary research, i didn't even look at or consider a vaio for a laptop.

just my $0.02
