Dell DVD+ - Page 2

Well i have been burning DVD On my desktop because of one reason i cant get the DVD Xcopy to work on the laptop. Planet-ed If u can share some light on how to install it let me know. anyway I been burning DVDs on my desktop and i remember i made an image of Gadiator and i was trying to burn it with Nero but nero said that my - DVD R maynot play in most DVDs Player but wheni put the + one it didnt say notting and just burned it. on the fact that most DVD players now a days can play all media. if ur DVD player is about 4 year old or u got it in 2000 or 2001 then u maybe have some problem but after this time u should be OK. anyway Planet-ED let me know how u got DVD X COPY to work on ur laptop. for some reason in every computer that i try to put the DVD X COPY that the Drive is only +, it never works. I tried my friends laptop. then in my desktop it works with no problem (i have a +/- DVD Buner). here is the problem it will load with no problem but when is time to reg the DVD Burner it say there isnt any. So how did u get it to work. I still ketp the program because it works on my Desktop (By the way is very expansive too) i was looking at the Webpage and now it doesnt crack the code anymore. well i there are programs that can do that with no problem out there.

here is the software (this version suck LOL im good i got the told version.)

All I did was just install the DVD X Copy Express and I was good to burn DVD's. Did you activate the program? Just had to ask

There should be a thing in your Start Menu called "Drive Select." Did you try running that to set your drive?

Also your lost me on the drive thing. You stated "i have a +/- DVD Buner" .. What drive is that? I thought the ones Dell sold were DVD+R only ..

I agree with Planet Ed DVD+R has been working fine for me for the last 18 months, the discs have worked flawlessly in over 20 different DVD players, No compatibility problems at all!
Not to disagree. But, As I said DVD+R are better for data because the format was originally intended for data only. DVD-R's are worse for data because the format came from Panasonic's DVD-RAM technology which was used for digital video mastering.

All I am saying is that if you have a dual format burner why not use DVD-R for video and DVD+R for data?

DVD-R's are cheaper and you are less likely to have compatability problems. Let's say someone sends a dvd to thier relatives who have a first gen dvd player. I would rather send a DVD-R since old DVD players work better with them.

I never said either format is better than the other.

i bought a dvd player AFTER i bought my inspiron 8600 with the dvd+r. sometime in jan 2004. out of the 20 or so different models in circuit city, only about 4 or 5 supported dvd+r. however all supported dvd-r. and the brands i wanted (harmon Kardon, Onkyo) did not support dvd+r at all, plus with the other features i wanted. so i had to buy the one that only supported dvd-r.
i wanted to burn movies on dvd-r and that is why i was torn when i was buying the notebook. but dell had other features that i liked. but to anwser one of ur questions, i burnrd a disk on dvd+r and CAN run it on my PS2 just fine.
i had started a thread earlier asking if the dvd burner's firmware can be hacked to support both + and - formats, but the anwser apparently was no.

GOD DAMN that thing looks mad sexy i think i would get it just for the hell of it. what does t take CD's or cards? and what are the specs on it.
I think it will use something similar to the Sony memory cards that they have for cameras, or at least have an interface for these if the games are not actually on them.

Yeah, that PSP will probably be replacing my GBASP, looks awesome in every way from aesthetics to graphics to the announced games......... Projected price tag at this stage is a worry though.

I like the widescreen though, much better than that ugly new gameboy.

I hear you there, the new Gameboy looks like a cheap throwaway game not a system.......
