im looking to fin my 5690 in it and mouse, AC power, mousepad and a cupple of school books and the thing is, is that my sager is painted and i dont want a backpack that will scrach the paint nor do i want it not to fit at least eveything i need to use my lap (i can always hold my books). iv been trying to find pics of the inside of some of the Targus backpacks.

Iv been looking at

I've got this one for my 8890 and it's awesome! There's an internal compartment for the laptop that has a velcro flap to completely protect the machine from other things in the bag. With my 8890 though, it doesn't quite close all the way, so I just tucked the flap into the compartment and just don't close it. But there's tons of room in this thing. I can easily fit my 8890 (which I'm prety sure is bigger than your 5690), it's AC adaptor, my external hard drive and my external DVD drive AND their power supplies, my mouse, my usb gamepad, my TRV-950 DV camera, my Canon S400 still cam AND 3 (count em, THREE) peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

I don't know what to pick between a Mezzi aluminum briefcase and Targus backpack.

I want something rigid so i wont be scared of squeezing it between luggage or putting other things on top. Key lock add security (you can get a matching pair of handcuffs if you need even more security )

But the briefcase wont hold much more than my notebook and its power brick. Maybe i should get both the case and the backpack.

Anybody has previous experience with a Mezzi case?

I just went back and had a look at the link you posted for that Targus Sport. We have one at work and it barely fits the Dell we have (not sure which model cos I never use it) and it's accessories. If we try to pack in any books or files though, we can't get the flap closed. If size (ie, how much you can fit in it), durability and price are what you're looking for, I highly recommend the one I linked to before. You won't be disappointed

I found that a Lincolin Town Car works the best for me.

I got a crumpler team player for my 8790, a smaller one would probably be fitting for yours. The thing i like most is how sturdy it is, really thick material, large industrial size zippers, you couldn't break it if you tried...

That's what would like to know also. I'm getting a GX7 and with a paint job, a simple foam padded notebook section will not do. It needs something that is lined like the Crumpler Team Player which is what I am leaning towards. I just wish it was not so expensive.

heres a thought for those who dont feel they are getting enough "cush" for thier 8790 http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...04323&pfp=cat3 looks like the 8790 is a bit thicker than the sleeve but neoprean can stretch

Does anyone know of a case/backpack that has a soft lined notebook sleeve? I'm concerned about scratching the paint on my GX7. I'm leaning toward the Crumpler Team Player but I wonder how soft the interior of the sleeve is. Thanks in advance for all your help!

You mean like this:

This Targus bag has soft padding bordering all corners.

Tom Bihn's laptop bags have a removable sleeve system.

So do Spire's backpacks.

Actually I meant the material that they line the inside of the sleeve. I don't want the top or the bottom the the paint of the lappy to be scratched. The Targus will protect the corners but does little to 'cushion' the actual surface of the laptop.

The one I have also has the removable sleeve. It doesn't have diaper soft padding, but it works for me. My 8890 is nice and safe

Oh yeah... this is my baby so I'd want a diaper for her.
