New 8887, need some help

I just received my 8887 and are having problems with the tv tuner and mouse/keyboard. I get an error message when trying to use the tv tuner and then I try to install the software that came with it. It doesn't install and has an error message also about an eecheck or something? Also, since then my mouse and keyboard will freeze up randomly and the only thing I can do is turn off the computer and then turn it back on. It works anywhere from 1 - 30 minutes and then freezes up again! Can anyone help me with my problems please???

Not sure about the TV Tuner stuff (I have yet to use mine), but the keyboard/touchpad freeze is a known issue and was resolved with a BIOS update.

Hopefully, someone will know what the deal is with your TV Tuner.

I would recommend going back to a time prior to software installation. try system restore. this may be a stupid question but if you purchased the system with the OS installed then the tv tuner software and drivers were already installed. Don't know if this is the case.

Hmm, I dis the BIOS update and it is still freezing up. I can't do anything for longer than 20 minutes without the mouse freezing. Is there anything else I can try or am I going to have to send it back?

At this point, I would give Sager a call and see if their tech support has any solutions, if not, then it sounds like an RMA issue (i.e. sending it back).

Sager 8887V

I received my new 8887V on April 2. I experienced two problems 1) Frequent mouse lockup and screen lockup for no apparent reasons. This problem was completely solved when I re-installed Win XP from the disk provided. 2) The normal "Ctl + F4"key combination (standard Windows short cut used to close subwindows does not work. Accidently found out that pressing "Ctl + Windowskey + F4" works! Contacted Sager tech support via email and they responded via telephone contact within 24 hours. Tech said they had not heard about this problem and they were able to reproduce problem using MS Word. They do not have solution at this time. Problem probably related to BIOS or keyboard mapping.

For now I am very happy with this machine which I primarily use for programming and photo editing. It is an outstanding performer for the purposes I need which is a desktop replacement carried from work to home and travel.
