What do you think, AMD Athlon XP, AMD Athlon 64, Intel Pentium 4, Intel Pentium-M, or the new revamped Pentium-M Intel's Dothan? For me, it's AMD Athlon 64 all the way ! 64-bit shall dominate over 32-bit for ever!

Amd makes fine chips, too bad they have companies like VIA making mobo chipsets for them. In college I worked for a local computer company which supplied thousands and thousands of computers to Mich State University, and 9 out of 10 times if there was a problem with the machine, it had a VIA chipset.

That is why Intel gets the thumbs up from me, because their chipsets are generally stable and results in less quirky windows use.

a64 coz they perform better in gaming and cheaper than intel cpus in most cases... and coz its 64-bit

but this is just taking into account chips

i'd choose a p-m for laptops :P

I agree completely with ricewind.

AMD isn't good for laptops? Only for desktops?

WORD! (DITTO)^1000.
intel motherboard chipsets are rock solid comparatively speaking.

dothans are the best. almost as strong as amd4, but lighter and a lot more battery time. i think their is no dillema. p m is by far the most advanced chip on the market.

amd 64 mobile has just as good battery life as the dothan

also, i dont think dothan showed any impressive increases over the centrino

5-8 % of an increse at the same speed (as banias) is a lot for me.
same speeds as the banias? as in 1.7 only? lol ok man

5% ISNT a big increase especially since u dont notice it in all applications, and games run at the same speeds.

and about the amd battery life:

amd 64 has 150-200 minutes of battery life

centrino/dothan has 200-300 minutes of battery life

so yea amd loses but its not as bad as the p4 chips, its still portable.

Especially if you are gaming, you will get at least 2 hours from the AMD and not much more out of the Dothan. Admittedly once they are clocked down, the Dothan starts to win out, but for power usage, there's not much in it.
In which computers the Dothan is supported?
p-M all the way baby!
Only in the laptops with Mobile Technology ? In the desktop laptops?
I voted for AMD64.

Though for notebooks, dothan is the winner imho.
Since this IS a notebook forum, I think this poll is inaccurate. Some of you voted for AMD64 but say that P-M is better for notebooks.
I think the A64 is a good balance between performance, power consumption, price, and innovation (64-bit isn't very useful yet, but it's nice to have). I would vote A64 for both notebooks and desktops.
