Extremely impressed with dell!

Well after reading so many posts about the shocking dell customer service i thought id post here with my first impressions.

Ordered my laptop last monday (24th may), not knowing whether i would receive it before i go on holidays on the 9th of june. Everything was processed by the tuesday (i put it on finance so it took a bit longer) however by wednesday there was still no update on my order so i called them up to find that my order had been frozen for the time being due to the shortage of ati 9600 cards.

Being in a rush to get my notebook the person i was dealing with sorted out a new order for me cancelling my other one and replacing the card with the nvidia 64mb 5200 in hope that i would receive it in time. She then placed my order on top priority however still could not be 100% certain that it would arrive in time.

Anyway, much to my suprise i received a call today saying that my 8600 had been built and is already in my country (australia) currently waiting to pass through customs and should be in my hands in a couple of days.

Now thats what i call service! Extremely happy with the professional manor in which they have dealt with me considering i am only a home user.

Cant wait to play around with my 8600!

Nice. Hopefully I'll be ordering mine soon, but this delay on the 9600 is going to be annoying. I customized one and it said they wouldn't ship untill the 25th. No, not 5 days ago; the 25th of next month!

yeah when i had mine ordered with the 9600 estimated delivery date was 21st of july..

doesnt bother me much as i can wait untill they get them back in then just order the part and put it in myself.. will cost me bit more but im just happy i'll have my laptop for my holidays

Yeah... i would like to add that I also have received very good CS from Dell (also in Australia). The CS we chat to are in Malaysia and they seem to try pretty hard to please the customer. I have had a few issues and they have ALWAYS responded the way I would have hoped. Kudos to them.
