Hello all,
I am looking into buying a 8790 with this configuration:
3.4GHz Northwood
1024MB ram
WSXGA+ Screen
ATI 9700 Mobility
60GB 7200rpm Hard Drive
DVD+-RW 4x / CD-RW
8-cell w/ TV tuner
After browsing these forums, I have still not found a clear answer to my question: How does the screen compare (in brightness, viewing angle, etc.) to the 17" Toshiba laptops with the glossy screen and the Sony Vaios with the "XBrite" technology? I have seen the screens of the Toshiba and Sony compared to other laptops, which blows them away. I wish I could see the screen in the 8790 in person, but I have no idea where to find one.
I have also noticed that at sagernotebook.com it calls the screen a "WSXGA+ with Super Clear Glossy Surface" and at pctorque.com it call it just a "WSXGA+ LCD." Am I correct in my assumption that these are both the glossy screens even though unstated at PCTorque?
These may seem like simple questions, but any responses would help me in my decision. I am leaning towards the 8790, but the screen quality could change my mind.
Thanks for your time,
-Ryan
