yea, i am kind of sad i didnt wait for the x800xt... x800pro should be good bang for the buck though.. i doubt i have the keen eye to spot the difference anyhow.

it's hard to find a point to jump into the loop. If I had waited about a week, I would have been able to add the internal wireless like I wanted. Still, I just get it later and put it in myself. Just bite the bullet and order it. You can make changes later on. The area-51m is designed to be COMPLETELY upgraded.

Dark you're making a huge mistake, you'll regret it.

The trick with this is to do the research first... find out what is on the market, and what is soon to come out before you purchase. That way you don't have buyers regret

God, this MJ dude is a real p r i c k. MJ, how about ending all your sentences with "In my opinion", because that's all they are. And ill-advised antagonistic ones at that. You're a real instigator wherever you post.

darthbeavis, you should try out a sonicare, its really good for brushing your teeth. also, good luck with your purchase, its amazing how everyone is laptop crazy... whats wrong with a desktop, hit the weights, get an extension cord, build some muscle as you tote it around.

Well you should check again because there is a new press release by ATI in which they talked about the new x600 for notebooks as well as their "Axiom" pci-express solution for modular video cards.

Well Im sure that that won't be out for quite a while. I bet Alienware will have a new Video Card out for us by then. Plus alienware would have to design a new area-51m............

Question: Ok, someone mentioned that if you call them up about a price drop, Alienware will refund you the money if you ordered the comp right before the price drop.

Anyways, I ordered my comp a week ago and it just shipped yesterday. I believe the price drop occured today (or yesterday) on a few things, eg. the 16.1" screen, etc. Can I still call them up and ask for a refund or because it shipped yesterday is it too late?

By the way, I am a bit disappointed that the DVD +/- RW came out today (or yesterday) and the price drop would have saved me about 400 bucks but the way to do it is to set a date, and buy it then. I set the day to be June 1st and I promised myself to buy it then regardless of what else is coming out, and I think that is the way to do it. There will always be new things coming out but it is up to you do set a date.

Anyways, I did set that date about 3 months ago so I did have time to wait for new things to come out and prices to fluxuate like crazy.

Here are the specs to my comp:

Warranty: 3-Year AlienCare Toll-Free 24/7 Phone Support with Onsite Service
Case: Area-51m Case with 16.1" UltraXGA 1600x1200 LCD Display - Saucer Silver
Processor: Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor with HT Technology 3.2GHz 800MHz FSB w/ 512KB Cache
Motherboard: SiS648FX + SiS963L AGP8X Chipset
Memory: 1024MB DDR PC-3200 - 2x512 SO-DIMMs
Video Card: Area-51m ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON™ 9700 Module with 128MB DDR and Half-Life 2 Coupon Bundle
Sound Card: Sound-Blaster Pro Compatible 3D Audio
Hard Drive: Hitachi 60GB 7200 RPM ATA100 with 8MB Cache
Smart Bay One: 4x2x8x DVD+RW / 16x10x24x CD-RW Combo w/Software
Ethernet NIC: Integrated 10/1000Mb Gigabit Ethernet NIC
Wireless network: External Wireless 802.11a/b/g PCMCIA Card
Modem: 56K Modem with V.92 Technology
Remote Control: Area-51m Multi-function Infrared Remote control
Mobile Transport : Alienware® Premium Backpack
Security Locks: Belkin K100 Security Key Lock
Operating System: Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional

All I can say is that I'm happy about my purchase, and if I can get some money back that would be great, but if I can't, that would be fine.
