I just lost my job as a School District Computer Lab Tech. They laid me off. If anyone here has any good ideas of internet jobs or what not, hit me up.

My interests:

Web design (I know HTML, Java, Flash, I learn things very quick)
Data Base (doesn't matter what language)
Word processing
Trouble shooting
Teaching Seminars
Writing tutorials about anything
Writing Essays
Programming (VB, C#, C++, ect.)

Thank you

Hey,

Sorry to hear about that. It's a bummer. I've been through layoffs three times when I was working with dot.com's four years ago. Get on unemployment as soon as possible during your search. It's not much, but wil help a bit with the bills and so forth.

move to Alienware, Miami.
I've heard the economy is on a rebound. Hopefully.
There was a guy around here(NY) that used to stand with a sign and a can. homeless and needed money for food. Till the local paper revealed that he owned three homes and was close to being a millionair. Good luck through these tough times Neako.

I'd have a sign that says: Homeless... Will work for an ALX.

Neako, very sorry to hear about this. As twopiece said, get on unemployment as soon as you can. I don't know if you've already heard about this, but TechTV offers a tech job finder that allows you to submit a resume' and people looking for specific skills can reply to you and hopefully hire you. Here is the link and I hope everything works out alright for you. http://seeker.dice.com/seeker.epl?rel_code=10416

Ironic isn't it? The entire TechTV staffs were let go when they were bought by G4. if you visit TechTV's page, it has been radically changed. Looks like you are not alone.

I didn't hear about them firing all the current TechTV employees. All of the show hosts are still employed. Is it the behind the scenes people that they've let go?
no they fired everyone!!! ALL 270+ employees

They said they would interview for 80 or so positions- post merger.

Of course they gave nods to xplay and unscrewed hosts cuz they wanted to keep those shows and TSS was the highest rated show but they already cut that shows airings way back!!! All old TechTv emps still around will be on new comcast contracts and must relocate to LA pretty soon. All this info is on their boards plus more(or was-).

That's a shame about Tech TV. I'm going to miss Lindsey Arent and Morgan Webb.

Neako,

I really wish that I can do something to help. I was laid off in the fall of last year, and although I wished for it to happen, I felt a bit down by the thought of "lay-offs". I think that is why I decided to buy my Sentia. :-)

I decided not to go back to a "tech" job and work for a boss. I have picked up a few clients on my own and have worked from home since. The pay is not much since the work load is still light, but I get to stay home with the kids during the years where it matters most in their development.

sup,

Sorry it took a while for a reply, I've been sending out my resume. I have a couple offers, but I'm trying to find something that I can do my best at. My friend at Macromedia is trying to hook me up, but I hate programming my work into companies that I feel I won't survive in. Just seems like they don't give anyone a chance. It's all about "Money", who they can hire for a cheaper amount, or who they can hire that already knows the basics of coding like the back of their hand. I've programmed for years and years. I've made thousands of useful tools to help computing life simpler, some of which have made me money. I'm thinking I might just program my own OS. I have friends that are good at taking care of the stuff I can't complete. I'll let you all know as soon as I do. God bless you guys for your replies. I appreciate it a lot, Also my Girl friend, without her being so awesome at drawling manga, we wouldn’t be able to pay the bills this month. I even considered selling my Sentia, which I checked out the specs on Alienware.com, my Configuration price is up. I’m happy I bought it at such a great time. Anyway, Thanks again.
