looking at the specs of the two machines it just seems a w1 is just a overpriced m6 with a nicer looking body, and a shorter battery life. What do you guys think

Who cares about looks? Go talk to the Alienware guys, they care about looks. Also, everybody that buys paintjobs for their notebooks care about looks.

i think the aluminum is awesome, ur palms will appreciate it

I should consider myself lucky.. I for one HATE paint jobs. I also find the IBM laptops sooo boring looking (although i admit they are good machines).
I prefer the sleek silver look. come on already Mitac 8050!!

now that would be funny: "i use my overpriced alienware system to pick up chicks. it's really worth it."

60 gig 5400 rpm hd
15.4 wxga screen
2200 b/g WLAN
9700 (9600 if very unlucky) 64mb radeon

just wondering, where did you order your m6n from?

You forgot to mention the 1680x1050 wsxga+ screen and the 4x slot load dvd writer. When/if the Asus gets the wsxga+ screen, then you might have a better argument.

Also the W1 is designed as a multimedia entertainment notebook with features such as TV Tuner, A/V Input and capture, remote control, front panel LED display, possibly HDTV output. (Of course this is for the more expensive version. I don't think the less expensive version without the AV options is worth it)
