setting up a home network (privilages)

hey, i am setting up a simple home network between a my 8887 and a dell desktop. i have set them up with the same workgroup and they are both win XP. after the workgroups were set up i cant access either computer. while im on the desktop i can see the computer and my laptop but when i click on my laptop computer it says i cant view it because i dont have the privilages. i can see the shared folders on the dektop that im on but if im accessing folders the laptop (that im not on) it wouldnt let me in and vice versa. how do i set up privilages so i can access files and printers off the workgroup. (i dont have a password to access my profile on either the laptop and the desktop...maybe thats it) any help would be lovely

You need to set up the SHARING correctly. The simplest and most dangerous is to just share the drive in it's entirety (for both computers).

What I did was set up a shared partition (P and anything that gets put there is on "the network"
