Congratulate me guys, I just ordered my new i8600. Actually, I ordered it, my mom paid...

Anyways, here are the specs -

Intel Pentium M Processor 745 (1.8GHz)
15.4-in WSXGA+
Microsoft Windows XP Professional
256MB DDR 333MHz RAM
128MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 PRO Turbo
60GB Hard Drive @7200 rpm
8X DVD+RW Combo Drive (this is what it said in the e-mail, this is the dual layer right)
Dell Wireless 1350 (802.11 b/g) Internal Wireless
2 Year At-Home Limited Warranty
Dell True Mobile 300 Internal Bluetooth Card
90w Power Adaptor
Remote Control for Dell Media Experience

Total Price - $2056.45 (after rebate)

If you customize this on there websit now, the price is $2600 (without and discounts), but thanks to the 20% off coupon and $50 rebate for creating a Dell Preferred Customer Account (I only did this for the $50 off), I was able to get the price above.

Estimated ship date is 6/8/04, quite a big difference from the 6/25/04 date the site gives.

Beautiful, absolutely beautiful.

Congrats on your (or, your Mom's) purchase.

It looks fine, Wooster!

Fortunately, you have followed some advices given on this forum, especially for the At-Home warranty.

The DVD burner must be dual layer, since only one 8x model is available.

Praise the Lord for ya, Wooster...I'm sure you can't wait to receive it.

When is the ship date??

AND why no accidental coverage young man

Gratz! I too, just ordered mine! Mine is due to ship the 9th.

Wooster I'm proud for you, if there is anybody who has studied the 8600 and all the options that you can get it's you. I think that you have gotten the best laptop at this time for the best money. Happy computing.

I haven't heard that since...since.....since...

I can't remember ever having heard that - from either parent!

Do I have a lawsuit against them?

Nah, its a graduation present. There had to be some sort of incentive to be salutatorian (only one stupid B )

Anyways, the ship date is the 8th, and I (and my mom) decided that for an extra $120 the complete care wasn't worth it as I am (usually) careful with my more expensive possessions.

Looks fantastic Wooster, glad you finally pulled it through! Have you got some more RAM already in your sights, if so what are you looking at?

Hey Wooster, Arent you getting a free upgrade to 384 Megs of ram or something? Were you able to switch this deal for another? I know that a small RAM upgrade like that is a waste. I wish we could choose where to spend the money on deals like that.
I'm getting about the exact same system as you tomorrow. Where did you get the preferred customer account deal? Thanks

Scott - I sent you a PM.

krjx - Yes, there was a deal for a free upgrade to 384 MB of RAM, but I turned it down because I am going to put a third part stick of 512MB in later. If I had gotten the 384 MB, I would have an extra stick of 128 MB laying around that I would have to keep in case something went wrong and I had to return the laptop.

Update: Jeeves is now in boxing!

Wooster's Daily Report - Day 3

Laptop is still in "Boxing" last time I checked; not expecting any change until Saturday or Sunday, unless they don't work on the weekend, in which case it will probably be Monday before there is any change in the status. Settling in for some monotonous posts.

You can also call dell at 1-800-624-9897 option sales then status. Seems like when I ordered mine it had more upto date info.
