Wooster's Daily Report - Day 5

Just got back from the all-night grad party, found that my laptop is in transit to the shipping company.

My only concern is if they use DHL. The remote is being shipped separately and has barely moved in the last five days.

And yet you are sober enough to post. That is a fine effort. Not long to go now.
edit: Whoops, forgot you guys legal drinking age is 21 isn't it?.....

What day did you place the order?

Yeah, the drinking age is 21, and the all-night party is there to keep you in one place so you don't go out and drink.

Anyways, I ordered my laptop on the first.

You ordered it on the first, and it's already done building? I thought it took about 5 days to build.

I was through kitting, building, and testing in one day. The part that takes a while is the boxing, which involves shipping from some foreign nation (not sure which one) to Dell in Texas.

By the way, does anyone know who Dell ships laptops through?

Mine came UPS. If you post a request tomorrow morning (or today) on the Dell order status board, they'll tell you your tracking numbers.

My 8600, which is being returned Monday, was made in Malaysia, then shipped to Nashville, TN, then to me in Illinois. Tracking did not work until the night before delivery, and nothing until it was already in IL. And the substitute UPS driver said she was in my neighborhood earlier in the day, but couldn't find my street, and that I probably wasn't home anyway. Wrong, I was.

Wooster's Daily Report - Late Day 6/Early Day 7

Finally I am does with the whole graduation thing and the relatives have gone home, so I can get back to these forums.

I ordered a 512MB stick of RAM from Crucial today, it was less than NewEgg's price and came with free second day shipping. Here is the status of everything. The remote should be here Tuesday or Wednesday, the RAM should be here Wednesday, and the laptop should show up on Thursday or Friday. The status of the remote hasn't changed since the fourth, and I have a tracking number for the laptop, but its not listed on UPS's site yet. No word from Crucial on the status of the RAM.

Eh, this still has me worried. The whole screen thing seems like a pain. I wish you could just request a Samsung, and then wait an extra day or two if that's what it takes. Did you get a Hitachi with light leakage, bsather?

Wooster's Daily Report - Day 7b

Received the remote this morning, better than I expected from DHL. Their website only noted 4 times that they did something with it. Last time I shipped something with FedEx (I think), they noted about 8 places that it went through. Anyways, does anyone know how I can get the remote to work with my HP desktop?

Still no tracking info on the laptop.
I'm willing to bet you'll get the laptop before the tracking information shows up.
