Overheating/Command and Conquer Generals

Hey all, does anyone play Comand and Conquer Generals around here? If so, does anyone else get hardware failure from overheating while playing it? It's not when I play the scenario games or 1v1. Actually, it's when I fill a gigantic map with 8 players (me included). I've tried changing the detail from high to medium and I keep the screen at 1024 x 768, but the game still shuts off saying that the hardware is overheating. I don't overclock either. Oh, and I also play UT2k4 without the computer shutting the program down (1024 x 768 highest on all details). Any thoughts? I was thinking about getting the Antec laptop cooler anyways...

I run xp pro, 3.4 GHz, 1G RAM, Radeon 9600 with Omegas

make sure your vents are clean... and try raising the back of the lappie to get more airflow under the bottom.

Hmm, I just noticed that I'm missing the rubber pad that's right where the vents are. I guess I'll just prop it up like you said and I'll ask alienware for another one.

Future reference...all Tech inquiries go in the Peer to Peer Tech section. Thanks.

man - I thought I was the only one with the same prob - I'm running the same setup - ( on a A51 desktop ) but it happens to me during Zero Hour. The EA site has some specifics - and I've updated my drivers - wonder if the game hates the ATI chip??
