Fan noise?

I'm wondering how the fan noise compares between the 8600, 9100, and XPS. Also, speaking generally, is it very loud at all? I can barely hear the fan on my notebook, but I'm wondering if with these, especially the 8600, it's much louder. When I play games, there is no 'louder' fan, but I've read about such a thing here on the forum. What is that?

It would be better if you didn't start so many threads on 8600 vs 9100/XPS.

Anyway, 8600 will be more quiet than 9100/XPS, and most probably more silent than your current notebook.

The i8600 is pretty quiet, the fans come on only occasionally during normal web surfing and office use, and in games obviously more (but doesn't matter if you've got sound on). The i9100 and XPS will have essentially the same fan activity (assuming they have the same CPU, etc installed), which is louder than the i8600 but not too bad considering what its cooling..... it relies more on airflow hence the "legs" on the bottom so that fans are not needed as often.
