Question about touchpad...

Thread Starter
I'm not great at using touchpads, and I was wondering if using a stylus on the touchpad instead of a finger works well. Anyone here try that?

Unless your stylus provides some type of electrostatic energy it won't work at all.

Not sure about the electro-static bit, but the Synaptics touchpad in the sager line needs PRESSURE to work... don't know if a stylus would be very efficient, and it may damage the underlying pressure pad (since a stylus is hard and pointed, versus a fat, soft finger).

I'm not on my machine now, but I will try it when I get home... I don't like touchpads or nubs either, but I can live with a touchpad (I almost always use a mouse, though).

Plus my mouse matches my machine! Gotta justify that custom colored mouse somehow!

Well you can put all the pressure you want using a pen, pencil or even a brick on that touchpad but I'm telling you it won't budge an inch

I might as well backup my claim

You're right! Sorry I doubted you! I tried with my stylus as soon as I got home, and NOPE, didn't budge.

I even tried other electrically-conductive items, and nothing. Finger works just fine, though. Hrmm...

Interesting technology that capacitance-conductive stuff.

Answer about Touchpads

Buy a mouse......

Touchpads are the best mouse alternative, but they are a distant second best to a mouse (Optical of course). i use mine only when space is an issue (meaning on the bus or plane only)
