not quite sure about the modem, specs just say 56k V.90 fax modem. But the lan port is gigabit

huh? i thought that it only had 10/100. at least that's what i thought it was, but you know how much luck i have with thinking. how much of a difference is there between V.90 and V.92?

The V.92 modem is newer and it allows users to use the landline for calls while being online.

oh, really? i thought it was just a speed difference or something...that's pretty good with the using the phone and internet at the same time, because i can't tell you how many calls my parents missed with me being online before optimum online cam and saved the day.

Yes I believe there is also some increase in speed though I can't be too sure.

is that a shinza sleeve i see? or is it something else?
do those fit 15.4"-screen laptops? i thought they were only for the 15" standard screen ones. if they do fit the widescreens, i'm getting one.

thanks laozx, good pictures
what's a shinza sleeve?
it's a shock-absorbent neoprene (i think) sleeve that you put your notebook in for protection. can handle quite the shock from what i've heard (ask rincewind). go to shinza.com and look for the zeroshock sleeves, they're available in both 12" and 15" models. well worth it if you need a very durable encasement for your lappy or you simply don't have a notebook bag and want to carry it in, say, a regular backpack/messenger bag.

polyeurthane

neoprene is the stuff used for wet suits etc...

its soft, but its not as absorbant

lol i'm dumb... anyways, they really are worth it IMO, you could really drop one of those things and the contents probably wouldn't suffer too much damage.

just recognized that fujitsu-siemens uses the same barebone (amilo m1420)
