Yes aamsel, I'm going to get the 1.8 Dothan from rjtech for $469. However, you can order it from ecost.com for $455

aamsel, not retail fan or heatsink was provided with the boxed intel cpu. That is the mitac heatsink/fan. There are copper fins near the fan that is near the exhaust area of the laptop. The pic I posted just doesn't show it.

If you look at the upclose pics of the heatsink unit. There is this area next to the fan looks like it's covered w/ masking tape or something that area has the fins that you are talking about.

You think it is worth $133 more than the 1.7 Dothan which is $336 ??
Just wondering.

I noticed everyone trying to get the faster cpu's right now. I guess my mentality was the opposite. I wanted just a decent cpu for a good price for now. Then wait till the dothan's get cheaper, then purchase them. I hate how prices of cpu's drop so dramatically. Feels like you never can get your money's worth. But the mitac i got isn't for me anyways, plus it's not really going to be a gaming machine, so i was never too worried about it having the best cpu.

Yea it seems like all notebooks heatsink/fan kinda follow the same design have that long copper pipe. This site has that aopen 1557 which looks like a much smaller heatsink/fan design than the mitac http://home.chello.no/deoman/ I'm not too worried that it's not doing it's job well.

the hypersonic CX6 comes with an 8 cell battery. I'm trying to decide whether rj tech uses a 6 cell battery and thus that's why the battery life is so disappointing. Guess we'll have to wait for azstinger to tell us.

I called hypersonic and they said they only used 6 cell.

Laozx, Are the pictures of the notebook down? I cant see them...

This just in:

All of our new GPN-CEN series notebooks are being loaded with 8-Cell Lithium Ion batteries, which give an estimated runtime life of 3.5 to 4 hours under normal usage.

Hope this helps!

Thank you ungcas!
finally, after months of switching from one lappy to the next, I've settled on the Mitac 8050. Only thing holding me back was the 3.5hr battery life but with an 8 cell, I could do anything. So does this mean if I order now, I'll get the 8 cell, or do I have to wait?
what kind of battery is it? Maybe I can order from rjtech and buy an 8 cell elsewhere.
Accodring to sisoft sandra it's a duracell. If you do a google for duracell and mitac 8050 i think you will locate something.
Game pc tells me it gets 3.5-4 hours. That seems to be about right, but the thing is you realy gotta turn off wifi and dont use the optical drive. The suck a lot of power. With those on watching a dvd i probably get 2.5 hours.
duracell doesn't have any notebook batteries on its site
post #54 of 104
do you know if the extra batt rjtech offers ($120) can plug into the optical slot or is just a regular batt?
just a regular battery.

Received another email from Richard Wu (rjtech) concerning battery size::

I had double checked from manufacturer's website and manual, they are all indicated it is 6-cell battery and they don't have an option for 8-cell. I am strongly believe that is a typo in gamepc website. You might want to call them make sure of it. The battery model we have here is BP-8050 (S). If they have the same number then it is 6-Cell.

Here is the link to Mitac, the manufacturer website, http://www.mitac-mtc.com.tw/pics/CeBIT%202004/8050.jpg you can see there is no option for 8-cell.

"winbook W, reviewed on cnet gets 3 hrs 50 min (mitac 8060B?)

Specs I took off http://www.mitac-mtc.com.tw/ :
Mitac 8050 has a 2200 Mah 6 cell
Mitac 8080 has a 2200 Mah 8 cell
Mitac 8399 has a 2000/2200 Mah 6/8 cell
Mitac 8599 has a 2000 Mah 8 cell

Strangely, there is no link to the 8060B (the Winbook W series) spec sheet. Kind of bothers me. I would surmise from the other builds of the similar type that there is either a 6 or 8 cell in there, probably 2200 Mah. So, the Mitac 8050 should come out with pretty close to the same battery life as Cnet reviewed the Winbook W for, close to 4 hrs under a good load.
"

previous post. if you look at all the similar mitac models they are kind of weird in terms of batteries, it appears u can stick an 8 or a 6 in the 8399. their site is so funky i wouldn't be too sure that all you can stick in a 8050 is a 6 cell
post #58 of 104
Tourney I think you are right. We all seem to be getting the same battery life. I think ti's all 6 cell.

Has anyone from canada ordered off of www.rjtech.com? Would I get taxed twice?

im lookin at RJTech.com and like what u buy from that websight is already bare bones? and they send u the notebook with like all the cpu and the video card and the ram and hd like sepretly in a nother baggy in the box?
i built my desktop computer and before i read this thread i was thinkin of gettin this lappy from gamepc.com

umm basicly when building your own or buying from a reseller like gamepc.com u would be gettin the same thing right? and i have never had expierience with a laptop before, so im kinda afraid of building so if i buy i might buy from gamepc.com

now i just gotta compare the cl56 and the mitac 8050.....

i started out with sager 5690... went to more mobility... moved on to the powernotebooks versiopn of the cl56.. then started to look at the A64 laptops.. now im lookin at the mitac 8050 because it has everything the cl56 has but a better screen... im gonna seriously need help on this decision...
