Thurs. morning at 7:30 I saw the first post in this thread, clicked on it, saw that it was Newegg (I love Newegg) and ordered the Ferrari online right then. I think it was the third one they sold. Then I remembered the overnight shipping and called Newegg and got it upgraded ($22 plus $2 rush fee). They confirmed that it would go out that day and it did! It arrived at 1:30 this afternoon. A small crowd gathered as I opened it.
Unpacking is like those russian dolls. Open FedEx box. Open brown Acer shipping box. Open white retail box. Open styrofoam box. Remove notebook from black chamois "chivas regal" type cloth bag - it gleams like a hand-buffed car. The red is startling. Inside it's beautiful - I was afraid it would look like a toy but it's definitely high-style adult design. The battery was not installed but it was charged. It comes with a zoomy red optical mouse - like the one in the 3000 photos. And it doesn't play the Ferrari racecar whine when you open it up - it plays it when Windows finishes loading. And it has a Ferrari calendar background on the desktop. I assume the background and opening sound are easily changed as my daughter loves the red color but not the racecars.
I can't really do any benchmarks as I'm no gamer and it's packed back up until tomorrow. But I wouldn't have gotten it in time for her party if you guys hadn't posted the Newegg link. So thanks again. If anyone has any specific questions I'll take a shot at answering.

download powerstrip from the link above
run powerstrip the program
rightclick the icon on the system tray and select performance profiles and click "configure"
a window should pop up indicating to you what the "core" and "memory" are clocked at interms of MHZ
can you please tell me what the default clocked score of these 2 are?
thanks and i hope ur daughter enjoys her big gift!!!
