4760 overheating to the point of shutting down

My neighbor's 4760 has been shutting down unexpectedly and I believe it's due to overheating. Before he sends it back for repairs while it's still under warranty, we'd like to give the fans a good internal cleaning to see if that fixes things. I looked around the forums but I couldn't find the link to the service manual that Clevo used to post. Does anyone happen to know where I could find that manual? When I tried to take the machine apart without it, I couldn't get under the keyboard or get the entire bottom off (I could get it to come up in certain places but it seemed like I was missing some screws).

Also, if he turns the laptop on its side for a while, it cools down from better air circulation. But leaving the system on during the night sitting on the desk (with nothing blocking the fans) will result in a shut down about 60% of the time. The 4760 has a pretty low clearance, so it's probably partly the fault of the design, but it used to work ok.

Thanks.

Cleaning out the heatspreader rather than the fans should be what you need to do. The heatspreader is normally located on top of the CPU and should be easy to access. I don't have a 4660, so I can't tell which compartment to open.

I had a similar problem, but using a vacuum to clean out the airway resolved it.
