I am having trouble with AverTV, the screen is blocky and not clear, but I do hear the voice.

Sager 4780
3.2 GHz
1GB RAM
ATI 9600

The software that I installed, AverTV Studio II
Fine Tune is set to 0
Aspect Ratio is set to free
Deinterlace is free
Video source is TV CATV
USA NTSC
I have tried all possible settings, then returned back to default values
I used the CATV connector that came with the computer.

There is nothing wrong with the cable because it works on my other TV

The only thing that has an exclamtion point in the Device Manager is in
Other Devices
USB Controller

It is enabled iin the BIOS, which is Phoenix BIOS 4 Release 6.

I would appreciate any help you can offer to make the AverTV picture clear.

Thanks

do you have "aver tv usb 2.0 video capture" under device manager - imaging devices ? also, the cd has 2 items that needs to be installed which are device driver and avertv studio ii . did you install the device driver ?

The TV tuner and software with this machine is a joke...don't bother...

Mine's not bad (though, yeah, the software could be better). The "blocky" thing is a driver issue. Since you mention the USB has an exclamation point, it's probably with the USB drivers.

You haven't said which OS you're running. If it's XP, and you don't have SP1 installed, install it. If you already have it installed, try uninstalling the TV drivers and reinstalling.

Several people have reported problems if the TV card is installed before the USB 2.0 drivers included with SP1. I saw the problem myself the first time I installed XP and got it in the wrong order.

WinXP

Thanks

I do have Aver TV USB 2.0 Video Capture.
CD ROM does work; installed the driver, and AverTV Studio.
I do have XP PRO.
USB is enabled in BIOS.

I do not have SP1 for XP; will try.
TV tuner may be a gimmick, but would still like to see it.

Thanks again.

SP1 for XP is needed for USB 2.0. Without USB 2.0, the Vidoe capture is too slow and you will see "blocking".
